Nice histori city park. Unfortunately facilities are all closed, although there are porta potties. The EXCELLENT Gainesville- Hawthorne Bike Trail begins here

Beautiful trail. The park itself is overgrown and neglected. Picnic table inaccessible from vegetarian and debris. Looks untouched for years.

We took a bike ride on the Hawthorne trail beginning here at Bouware Springs. The bike trail has some hills at this point which makes it a wonderful place to ride. We road about 15 miles.

No camping here. Picnic shelters and porta potties are present. Trailhead for Hawthorne Trail for biking, walking, and roller blading. Can also bring horses for horseback walking. Also access to La Chua trail to see Payne's Prairie.
Yes
No you cant swim here ...but this was where all the water was supplied for Gainesville....if you go there are signs that tell the history of the spring...Boulware spring is north of Payne's prairie. There is a trial from the spring to Pairie. Free to visit but the gate closes at 8pm.
Boulware is more scrub habitat, but just 5 minutes up the road is La Chua Trail. It's a pretty good place to view Alligators. It's about a 15 minute walk from the parking lot.
There are two water fountains, one right by the parking lot and the other right before the 1 mile marker. Both water fountains are perfectly well. I have been drinking water from those fountains for last 4 years without a problem.
