Great park and opportunities for seeing eagles, osprey and other birds and wildlife. Dogs on leash are welcome. Trails are great and vary between easy to moderate in terrain.

Enjoyed the rolling hills through woods with occasional glimpses of water on a gorgeous spring afternoon. The visitors center has a couple of beautiful vistas if you're doing a drive by. If you're hiking the trails, keep an eye on trail closures. Repair work on Fossil Beach is underway. Wish there were reroutes instead of hard closures.

I was initially going to rate this park one star, because I drove here last Tuesday and they were closed for "wildlife management." However, I tried again on Friday and the gates were open! I am so glad that I returned. This place is a …

I was driving home from Ashland, VA to Portsmouth, VA and decided to stop here with my son! It was sooo beautiful! We walked two of the shorter trails, and got to see so much! Breathtaking views!! Such a relaxing day!! We got tons of …

No camping at this state park. I wish they did. They have room, but choose not to for some reason.
It says swim at your own risk, but I would only wade close to the shoreline due to the strong currents for safety precaution. Any river is deceiving in their strength.
Yes. There are two sections to the park and you want to go down to Croaker Landing where the boat launch is. There is a fishing pier and shoreline and you can crab from either one.
Not allowed in the pond and not recommended in the York River or Creek but we cannot prevent swimming there (we can only prevent or restrict swimming in bodies of water completely contained in a park). There is no real beach area.
Yes. The dog must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet and under your control and you must clean up after the dog, depositing the waste in a trash container.
I got rooms in Williamsburg as low as $35/night off season and $60 in season. I used Expedia App.
Yes, fairly easy walk. Some slopes and tree roots, but not strenuous
Yes. We have a fishing pier at the Croaker Landing section of the park but you can fish elsewhere as well. If you fish on the pier we have a pier license so you don't need it there. You will need it everywhere else on the park.
Attending the pre-hunt briefing will allow you to ask questions.
There are inexpensive fees on park entrance
There is a $5 per car parking fee and an extra fee of $3 for a horse trailer.
Yes. There are two sections of the park. You want the Croaker Landing section. We have a pier there and there is also shoreline you can crab from. The rest of the park has beautiful views of the river but access is dicey although you can hike to the river from that section as well.
Not if you fish off the pier. We have a pier license so that covers the people who pay to use the pier.
No they have hours, not sure what time they open but I know they close at sunset each night
I would not suggest it because there are many things buried that you could step on! It is a good place to canoe or kayak though! The hiking is nice also!
Yes! At the fishing pier which is up the road from the main entrance to the park!
$4 honor code parking fee, other than that i dont believe they charge to fish here
No, they don't, but they should. They have plenty of room for it. KOA is about two miles straight down the road past it off of Newman Road.
