HORRIFIC HOSPITAL ! If zero stars was an option, that’s what I would rate this experience. Of all the hospitals we came across this is hands down the worst hospital we have ever been to. Nursing staff is horrendous with an exception of one or two that were friendly. When you hit the call button in distress they take their sweet time getting to you. You constantly feel like you’re annoying them. This place that is supposed to be so prestigious has been the biggest disappointment . Shockingly awful experience. Wouldn’t take my dog there!

I went to the melanoma clinic for a second opinion after having skin cancer removed by my local dermatologist. The appointment itself was good. The doctor was great. The appointment lasted under 30 minutes and I was charged an out of network specialist fee. Now I am recieving almost $500 in hospital bills (after insurance) even though it was an office consultation. Absolutely ridiculous! I am disgusted by the greed in the UNC system.

Trying to get biopsy appointment scheduled at UNC Liver Clinic. Desperate person meets wall of indifference and chaotic phone system, including the direction to press 8 for all other inquiries, and when you do that, you get a recording saying nobody's there and you need to start over and find a different extension. Finally get through, get passed from Liver Clinic to Onclology, then told a provider is needed (have no idea what that means), then I get sent back to the original number. Trying again. A friend told me UNC Hospital is much more caring than Duke. Seriously? How bad must Duke be? Because this is awful. How can the people who answer the phone not know how to schedule a referral for a liver biopsy? Tried the next day, begged the woman who answered not to transfer me, but she transferred me. Complained to the next woman, and she hung up on me. Called Customer Service and explained that having a mass on your liver is a once in a lifetime experience. I don't know what they mean when they talk about needing a provider (as in my mind UNC is the provider) or what needing a code means or where I even am in their complicated, deep dive network of phone connections. Customer Service was VERY responsive and sorted it out, got me connected to where I needed to be (Cancer/Oncology), and explained some of the nature of the confusion (I was asking for the Liver Center which handles transplants, but I DID get to Oncology on my first try and still was transferred out again). I definitely think UNC's Intake staff needs to be better informed and better trained, but in the end they did deliver what I needed. Just took a total of 90 minutes across two days for me to get there. But once I got there, they did explain how it all works and scheduled a callback and gave me a direct line to call if there are any issues.

There are no bathrooms in the parking deck.
There is also a Ronald McDonald House nearby if it fits your situation.
Yes. They have nice waiting rooms with a monitor that shows where the patient is at all times. The patient is not identified by name only by an assigned number which will be giving to you. At least 2 people can go with the patient to the pre-op area before surgery. Arrive at least 30 minutes to an hour early.
Very GOOD Hospital. Very helpful and caring. Recommend this Hospital to anyone.
UNC Hospital has a Ronald McDonald House. Your physician has to submit a referral to the RMH.
I'm sorry that happened to you,but all in all it's a pretty safe place. U should still fight for your property.
No known free parking near the hospital
Im not really sure but if u are pretty sure thats what it is then I would definitely take her to another hospital or take her bk to UNC an tellem u aint leavin til they do sumthin for her
Definitely can. Would check unchealthcare.org or search UNC Hospitals to find the number.
You have to put an application in at the school of dentistry. It takes about 2 to 3 months for a call back. On the application it asks how much you want to speng: $, $$, $$$. If I remember correctly, it's $150 to be evaluated and based on your circumstances they will build your dental plan and the costs depends on what you need.
The hospital itself does have a dental clinic you would have to call an make an appointment or go to the dental school if u want a cheaper deal but sometimes you need a recommendation for the dental school both can put you to sleep during procedure
It's in Hillsborough called Register and Deeds, its above the Weaver Street Market, you might have to google the directions
There is a parking garage across the street that is $1.50 an hour or max $10 a day or you can do valet parking in front of the hospital for $10. The valet parking is in front of the women's hospital right now because of the construction. Or if you are staying in the hospital for a few days they have parking passes you can get. I don't remember the prices but the are cheaper then the garage and valet parking. You get them across from the hospital where the police are. You can ask the nurses at the nurses desk. I hope that helps
Yes it is different for each unit/floor area. Some are in room some in disignated areas. We were there 3 hours from home for 4 months.
I'm sorry you're in a position of needing to look into cancer treatments, but this is THE place to go. All around top notch care: incredible hospital facility, doctors and surgeons that are literally the best in the world, nurses that graduated top of their class, excellent communication between all specialty departments, and access to cutting edge research and clinical trials. If a member of my family was diagnosed with cancer today, this is where I'd take them to begin their fight.
The hospital has some financial assist available, not sure what it covers though. I suggest giving them a call
UNC takes pride in providing the best care for every patient.
There is none, it's in the middle of a college campus
I want to say no because you can not drive yourself, but you can ask the nurse or doctor that is doing the surgery if they can give you a free parking pass.
