Beautiful and serene state park. Like campground C with waterview and the unique equestrian campground. Clean bathrooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Be aware of azigzillion of squirrels, always stash your food.

My wife and I are in B Loop. Its a great loop for campers larger than 18' and well shaded. The spots are fairly level but you are close to each other. C Loop is tight for anything over 18 feet, well shaded, but not as level as B Loop. The bathhouse is kept up well by park staff. It's a great boating and Kayaking lake. I recommend putting your Kayak in by the office verses the Marina. There is a Splash Zone for the kids but no official place to swim in the lake. We did see Kayaker's swimming off shore on some beachy type areas. Bugs Island Brewery is 5 min away and super easy to get to. Great beer and the food is amazing. This is another fantastic state park in all aspects. Well done to the staff here!

This was a very nice park. The space between lots gave room so your not on top of each other. 30 Amp electric and water. Dump site is inside the park on the way out. A lot of hiking and walking trails, horseback riding and activities for all. Plan to return next year, same spot I hope. Park folks are very friendly!! Camp host came out to assist in parking, gave us information about the park and checked on us each day to see if we needed any help which was great. I needed all the help I could get. LOL. Even has a dog pole to hook your dog to so he/she are allowed to walk around. Really nice place so far this year.

A park with something for everyone. I enjoyed checking out the terraced garden area and reading about the history of the plantation. The trail is nicely shaded and allows a time for contemplation of those that lived there at that time. Also checked out the enormous boating launch area. Enjoyed the deck looking out over the area.

For a grooms party, probably ideal. There are 2 bedroom ones that sleep 8 I believe it was (2 bunks and 1 queen). October is off season so it would be the cheaper rate. Just remember, keep it classy, it is a beautiful park ;) hope you enjoy. https://www.reserveamerica.com/explore/occoneechee-state-park/VA/140179/overview This should bring you to the rate and reservation site. Cabins were fully stocked with kitchen items, linens and pillows on beds etc
My cabin did not have an outdoor firepit, I was there about a month ago. It had an outdoor grill and a table. I don't remember ever having a fire pit at a cabin there, however, there are fireplaces inside of every cabin. Refer to the park website to figure out which cabins are close to the water.
There is no fishing dock. I saw ”no fishing” signs posted for the docks. The shoes is very steep on this lake.
Here they are: https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/document/feescabins.pdf
Yes on parking if you visit the 2 parks on the same day, otherwise you have to pay the parking fee of $7.00. Splash park admission is included in that fee.
There is a $5 per car parking fee regardless of what you do in the park. If you don't drive to the park - hike or bike in - there is no fee.
It's about 150 miles from Halifax NC. It's in Mecklenburg County VA, adjacent to Halifax County VA...but not NC. It's not that far though, maybe an hour or so depending where at in the County.
We have one small shelter and one large shelter (https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/occoneechee#picnic_shelters). The small shelter is $60 plus tax for the day and the large is $90 plus tax for the day. Per car parking fees apply to all guests.
Unsure we didn't get to the office yet. Arrived after 4
Opens Friday!
Yes, this is no primitive camping place. Park rangers and camp hosts are also pretty frequent. With all the road and boat sounds, the bears probably are only in the signs.
Don't believe so never heard of anything like that
No prolems. Verizon worked throughout the whole park.
Here is the fee chart: https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/document/feescabins.pdf We have a 2 night minimum. For the summer we are currently requiring 4 nights for rentals more than 30 days from now and the 2 night minimum in the 30 days. The $129 rate mentioned by the other user is correct if you live in Virginia for a 2 bedroom cabin.
Sadly no.. But if your handicapped or a disabled vet. U can appliy for a pass for all state parks.
We don't have a pool. We have a spray ground: https://vasp.fun/SplashSprayGround
Here are the fees: https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/document/feescamping.pdf

Where do the folks that answer these questions get their info. This park does not have a beach or swimming area. We opened a spray ground this year. Of course you can take a boat out and jump in the lake but there is no developed swimming area at this park.
It is open every day of the week starting May 26. It is only open weekends in May before Memorial Day weekend.
It's on the website... When it's warm outside, everyone loves randomly sprayed cool and refreshing water. The spray ground area has playground equipment, two charcoal grills, a picnic shelter, restrooms and 25 parking spaces. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays in May prior to Memorial Day and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Admission is included in daily parking, camping and cabin fees.
There are cabins you can rent.
They offer cabins year round
