DO NOT RENT A VEHICLE FROM THIS COMPANY!! I made a car rental reservation online and went to the location to pick up the vehicle and was told that they DO NOT DO SAME DAY RENTALS!! Really? Then why did they accept my reservation and credit card information? Why does the website ALLOW a reservation to be completed if once you get to the location you can’t complete it. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL

Update: it has been seven months going back and forth with Enterprise and they still wont solve the issue. If you dont want to assist customers then dont give them multiple faulty cars and refuse to at least turn of the check engine lights for peace of mind on cross country travels. When we arrived back home ironically someone was in front of us with a similar issue but that enterprise location told her she could get it serviced herself and be refunded. Why didnt Palm Springs tell us that? Because their customer service is terrible. See we are still waiting to hear back. I'll say first Stephanie and another attendant outside were real nice. Offered us a water and everything while we waited and listened to the issue we had. The one star is for the service "Rigo" (I believe short for Rodrigo) gave us inside. I explained our situation and instead of listening to us he got combative. Our car had a star in the windshield on the driver's side and the service indicator was down to 10%. He told us it was just about the oil change and not to worry about it even after we told him we'd be traveling across the country over 3k miles. He then said the people just forgot to reset it, so I asked him if he could get them to reset for us before we go. He insisted that he is seeing on his computer it just got an oil change and he didnt need to reset the indicator. This tells me two things: 1. Rigo doesnt care about customer safety and 2. He doesnt care about his employer's vehicles because our car has had the service indicator on for the last 400 miles now and we still have 1800 more to go. Not good!

The renter is ultimately responsible for the vehicle. I suggest you reach out to the company directly and they can go over the details.
Mr. Tahir is correct concerning keeping it an extra day or 2. The real problem is you now may flip into a daily rate. The rental car company won't report it missing for at least 5 days, however they will be looking for you.
If you get a compact it will be about 125$ with insurance.
Avis budget has great deals right now ! ( I work there, to keep it transparent )

You can walk. It's a very small airport and the rental return lot is just outside of the baggage claim area.
