I originally booked online with Avis at the off site Palm Springs location, didn't realize they close at noon on Saturdays. Who does that???? Great, no car. Went back to the airport and the Avis manager wouldn't let the clerk honor the reservation. Heather from Dollar rental jumped right in and gave us the same price as my online booking. She was awesome and we are so grateful for her help.

I rented a vehicle online with my debit card. Received an email stating the amount due at pick up & that I could pay with whatever card, it didn't have to be the same card. Got a ride to location 45 min away all for them to tell me I needed a major credit card in order to pick up. They wouldn't rent me a vehicle. I was heartbroken because I promised my kids I'd be there to see them (It had been 11 months since I last seen them) I called customer service crying my eyes out, there was nothing they could do but say sorry. When asked about my deposit, they told me it would be 7-10 business days before I got it back but the man told me he'd put a rush on the refund. I end up getting another vehicle thru Enterprise but it was a $300 deposit so I was really short on my trip & wasn't able to stay as long as or do what I wanted with my kids. I called Dollar back 5 days later to inquire about my deposit & they hadn't even put it thru! So 13 days later I still do not have my deposit back & all they can say is sorry & refused to let me speak with a supervisor. Absolute HORRIBLE customer service! Couldn't even offer me a coupon or discount for future reservation, NOTHING! Just, we're sorry. Almost ruined my vacation. Would NOT EVER recommend to anyone

I rented from Dollar at the Palm Springs Airport on 3/28/2022 and paid for an upgrade. The car I was given had 42,000 miles on it, was dirty, smelly and in a very poor state of repair. The car shook when the brakes were applied, the windshield wipers were worn out and could not clean the windows (not good when driving on the freeway), the engine clunked when accelerating and the A/C barley worked. I went to the rental counter and was told by Michael there was nothing that could be done to refund the upgrade cost. He told me that I should have returned the vehicle for another one, but my itenary would not allow that. My thought is that I should not have to worry about the basic saftey of the vehicle I am renting. This is the last time I rent from Dollar - beware of the safety of the vehicles they rent.
