Just north of Bodega Bay is a beautiful overlook of the Pacific Ocean called the Sonoma Coast State Park Gleason Overlook. With ample gravel parking just off the highway, you can park and go for a stroll as you view the beautiful Pacific Ocean . Do yourself a favor and check it out! You can drive right up to the trail heads. If you require a mobility aid like a walker or wheelchair, it's still worth driving for the view. There is a picnic area you can sit at and joy the sights. The walk to the beach/cove can be done by a toddler with the help of an adult. It's cold and windy along the cliff side. There are 2 well maintained out houses, but are not kid friendly.

Beautiful, easy hike to take the grandparents & kiddos on. We lucked out in between wind and rain storms and had sun & views for miles. Highly recommended for an easy outting (plenty of parking mid-week) and an easy drive.

Breathtaking. The view is definitely worth going out of your way to spend even just a few moments savoring the unending awe of the Sonoma Coast. Stand at the edge of the cliffs overlooking the power of the vast ocean and crashing waves over jutting rocks while being fully immersed in the music of the ocean. Be still... it may call to you if you listen. Bring a blanket, notebook, pen, a cozy sweater and a glass of wine (or juice) to inspire your inner poet. If you allow yourself to be still long enough, you may be surprised as to how the ocean inspires even the hardest of hearts to overflow with creative energy. Take pictures if you must, But be sure to pause. put your camera down. Leave it in the car if you need to. Close your eyes and breath deep the salty air, feeling the wind twirl around you. Wear a dress and dance with the breeze to the rhythm of the crashing waves. Let this place bring you back to your childhood... before being an adult robbed you of the power of curiosity and impulse. Open up your eyes... notice the obvious beauty but then slow down... sit on a rock or lay on the grass and find small joys in passing clouds... or a tiny beetle perching high on a peculiar flower. This is a place to be human and come with no agenda but to feel the soles of your feet connecting with the earth, sing the songs of the wind and breathe deep this wonder of the Pacific Coast.

Sonoma Coast State Park has two campgrounds, Bodega Dunes and Wright's beach. You can put an rv or tent in most sites, and there are no cabins at either location. There are cabins available just north of the Bodega Dunes campground at Chanslor Ranch, which is not affiliated with State Parks.
All sites at Bodega Dunes and Wrights Beach are by reservation ONLY through reservecalifornia.com
Yes, dogs on leashes are allowed on one side of the park. Signs are posted.
I thing, you can to Bodega, Doran Regional Park. 7$/day, parking lots are near beaches, no stairs.
There are some beautiful places along the coast between Salmon Creek and Goat Rock that people utilize for wedding ceremonies, Portuguese and Schoolhouse beach are two of the more popular. Definitely worth checking out in person, just know that it ranges from windy to very windy, and it can also be really foggy and cold out there at times. And of course make sure to contact State Parks first to acquire whatever permit(s) you will need. You can call their location in Duncan's Mills during normal business hours to find out more information.
I don't have the information at my disposal as we speak. If memory serves me correct you'll need to go to The Parks and Recreation Office Over Off Administration Drive... All The County Offices Are Located There. It's There Where You Will Make Your Reservations And Get You All Set Up. "JUST AN FYI....FROM MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND UNTIL THANKSGIVING WEEKEND WILL BE TIGHT." The Coast Is "ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL" ALL LOCALS AS WELL AS TOURIST WANT TO VISIT OUR COAST.... DON'T FORGET BODEGA BAY...FRESH DUNGESS CRAB....THE TIDE'S RESTAURANT FOR CLAM CHOWDER... YOU'LL LEAVE HAPPY HAPPY AND RETURN AGAIN... IT WAS A PLEASURE & I HOPE THIS WAS SOMEWHAT HELPFUL
Be careful north of Jenner... I've flown in the cliffs along HWY 1 in a small plane and the Sheriffs Helecoptor... Drones can actually be a useful tools in evaluating a patient on a cliff edge...
Yes and they do fill up quickly
Yes I believe so. Give them a call to find out for sure
None that I saw at low tide, nor much of anything else, except driftwood
Yes there are several parks along the highway. Up till salt point. Most have big enough campsites for a 28ft trailer. If you're concerned about the road perhaps stay at the Dunes which is the first Park in the Sonoma coast. That's right out of Bodega Bay. I believe they can accommodate all sorts of trailers. They have showers and a dump station.
Wrights Beach is best for that
