Best place to watch the sunset!

Most of the bathrooms were closed for some reason. Otherwise this is a nice place to camp and visit the beach. There is a good sized fishing pier and a all boat ramp next to the restaurant. I saw many people coming and going in the late afternoon and evening. Definitely will be back here again with my trailer.

Great prices and right on the beach! Yay .

Can family members of veterans stay there
In order to use any MWR related service/facility of the US Military you need to have a current Military CAC Card (Active Duty or DoD Civilian) or a Retiree's or Dependant's Id Card. The only other way possible to use these facilities would be as a guest of someone who does possess the fore mentioned credentials
A believe anyone with a dd214 can access
Yes. Many cottages are wheelchair accessible including a cook top with room to pull a wheelchair under it and a wall oven at the appropriate level. Huge wheelchair accessible bathroom!
Yes.their are pier for fishing and crabbing
Ft Fisher is not free. Fees vary depending on which facilities - cottages, shared facility lodging, RV Slots, Yurt, and tent slots you are interested in. Fees are done according to season and rank.
They have a concrete ramp,.... and various smaller Kigali launch areas, I know they have a floating dock that has seen better days however
Short answer, yes as long as you meet the below criteria from the website: Fort Fisher, “Your Place at the Beach,” is available to Active Duty Military, National Guard, Reservists, Coast Guard, Retired Military, DoD Civilians and 100% Disabled Veterans with valid DoD ID Cards. Additionally, veterans with a valid VHIC card that displays Purple Heart, Former POW or Service Connected are authorized users.
There is laundry but will need to fill propane before arriving
It is an open facility. No gate. It is paroled by Kure Beach Police, just is case you are wondering.
Active Duty and Retirees of any branch of the military can stay at the cottages and campsites at Fort Fisher Recreation Area
The one I Was in had two bedrooms (each with a queen/full) and the third bedroom had 2 twins
Yes all required Is an official military ID card and you're GTG 👍🏿
Off season it's about $117/ night and $144/ night for pet friendly in a 3bdrm and during the summer it's like $275/ night for a 4bdrm and $180/night for 3bdrm
It normally takes 24 to 48 hours for a return call. You can also try Facebook messenger. They stay really swamped with inquiries but they do try their best from my personal experience
No there is not.
The easiest thing to do is email them, but you can call.
Vacancies?
I believe you need a Military ID card to stay at Ft Fisher
Must have Military sponsor with them
I believe the veteran must be present with the group.
I was there several weeks ago. Although it wasn't the best of signals, I was able to use my hotspot.
I recommend emailing your question to fort Fisher for an answer. A person with a retired CAC card or other military ID is required to make the reservation and pick up the key. The sponsor is required to remain on base with their guests
Fort Fisher is a military base. A sponsor is suppose to sign you in and remain with you during your entire stay.
You'll have to use Google maps
There appears to be a fenced in area for storage.
Check before you arrive about pets. Some events allow, some don't.
You can fish off the gazebo without anyone bothering you
not that I'm aware of,but there are rental options available at the Board Walk area,...
Yes, for active duty military and retired military personnel.
They have wifi but it does cover everywhere. It certainly is not worth chasing. Relax.
Can you stay with a US Department of Veterans Affairs Card? Current VA Card?
It depends in your status. Active duty military can book six months in advance. While retired and DOD civilians can only book 30 to 60 days in advance.
Not sure of your question, but guessing you meant what year did it open as a recreational area? Not positive of the year it was converted over, but has been a recreation area for active and retired military for a while. Hope that helps.
