My father had a military burial ceremony at the Salisbury National Cemetery today, and I really enjoyed hearing Taps played and the folding of the flag from my dad’s coffin was excellent as well. The space where the ceremony was held was good. For the ceremony, however, there needs to be a better opening and closing— it was confusing. Better communication is needed. Also, the lady who officiated the ceremony was not dressed appropriately (wearing a t-shirt and jeans). Moreover, when we asked about where my father would be laid to rest, she brusquely replied, “families are not allowed to see where their loved one will be buried.” If that is the policy, then no problem, but some kindness and respect is warranted when delivering this message.

In awe of those who have served. Was there for my uncle’s funeral and they were very respectful and honoring.

I just called the cemetery to find out if the cemetery is closed on weekends. A man there told me that the office is closed but that the cemetery is still open on weekends. Just going by what the man in the office told me.
Yes
Yes. The National Cemetery is open weekends and holidays, sun-up to sundown, for visitation. Enter through Hedrick St gate of VAMC Salisbury (off of Brenner Av) during these times and follow signs.
Yes
Hedrick St, off Brenner Av.
They have a directory that provides a map and gravesite location.
The branch of service depends on what the parent service was during the Veteran's period of service. It may be on the headstone as Army, Air Force, or USAAF (United States Army Air Forces). You may have better luck looking for one of these inscriptions at the Salisbury Historic National Cemetery as there are older burials there. The Annex at the VAMC is, if I recall correctly, from after 2003 and most of that generation have already sadly passed on.
You can contact the cemetery, they will have all the information for you 😇😇😇😇😇
