Our family came together and paid our respects to our father. He was a United States Navy veteran and It has been a year since he passed away, a week before Thanksgiving 2020. The team at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery did an excellent job with the arrangements of honoring a fallen hero at this well appointed facility. Thank you for your service β€οΈ
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
My wife's grandparents' cremains are buried together, the front of the stone shows his name (service member) and the rear of the stone show her name(dependant)
There is an Ossuary & memorial wall available. Contact the cemetery for more information.
We had one on Tuesday Feb 2nd and only 14 people could enter the room where the coffin/ceremony was held, everyone else stayed in their vehicles
Only the admin office is closed on the weekend. The cemetery is open for visitation 365 days a year, sun up to sun down.
Also, the non veteran spouse can be interred fitst if they precede the veteran in death. The men and women on the staff of Sacramento Valley National Cemetery are privileged to serve ourw nation's Veterans.
All caskets are in ground. There are no casket crypts in a National Cemetery. But there is an above ground columbarium. The family chooses if the urn will be buried in ground, or placed in the columbarium. Service numbers are not engraved on grave markers. At a minimum, the Veterans name, branch of service, dates of birth and passing are engraved. Additional information like rank. Wartime period, and/ or a personal message are allowed; though there are space considerations.

We got my dad buried there in a few days after contacting them just need to make sure all your paperwork is in order
Yes when you go there there's on the outside by the entrance and the bathrooms there's a little kiosk where you put in the name of the soldier for the person you're looking for and then it comes up and tells you exactly where their plot is and gives you a map so if you have several relatives such as myself put everybody's name in individually and it prints you one per each person I hope that answers your question
I just read that the flags will be put out the Saturday before
There are several thousand WW II Veterans interred at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. In response to a Memorial Wall...we do have such a wall that lists the names of Veterans who served during all era's. The criteria for a name appearing on our Memorial Wall is...the Veterans remains are no longer recoverable. This would include those lost in battle and never found, as well as Veterans whose remains we're dedicated to science or whose ashes we're completely scattered. The cemetery also has an ossuary...cremated remains can be added to a sacred repository underground, and their name would also be added to the memorial wall. In all cases, the next of kin would request this with the Cemetery Staff.
Your husband's brother can be buried at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery based on the information you are sharing. We are not able tp reserve family plots, but it will be an honor to provide burial servoces and perpetual care at the time of need. This Cemetery will be conducting burials for at least the next 100 years. Of course the spouse of the Veteran will be layed to rest with the Veteran when the time comes.
Yes at 9am on Memorial Day. Come early it is well attended
You need to contact the cemetary directly, as these questions are not answered by cemetary staff.
The flag goes to half mast at 830am Monday - Friday for all the Veterans who will be interred at the cemetery. She goes back up by 330pm after the last service. If there happens to be a special Federal order she will stay at half mast until the order is complete.
Yes. The cemetery is open 365 days a year.
Please check with the office there during business hours just to make sure.
I was only there once for a funeral. But the staff person said there I a kiosk that you look up first and last name to get directions to the right grave. Have not tried it yet, but that is what he said. He said it is only open during the daylight hours.
For more clarification please contact the office there for best answer, during their business hours.
It's best to call the front office there. Hopefully they're still open.
Call the office during business hours.
We went to Fenton's at the Nut Tree. It was lovely.
I think they removed them due to covid. But it is okay now, they are back. I was there May 30th and they was plenty of cones.
Contact the VA National cemetary and give them your fathers information. They can help you find out.
Call the administrative office. We had flowers yesterday for my Mothers service.
That is something that has to be set up by the individual decedent's family We buried my mom yesterday and she was not authorized the 21-gun salute but my dad who went in with her was indeed given a 21-gun salute in 2006 when he passed and his cremated remains were put in with my mom's casket yesterday Shirley at Morgan Jones Funeral Directors in Sacramento is very knowledgeable in that area
I don't know of restrictions, I believe there are no limits on attendance.
You can't reserve a physical specific plot. But you can get reassurance of eligibility to be buried in a National Cemetery. If a Veteran has his/ her discharge document (DD214) following 2 years of active duty, they have earned eligibility. Sacramento Valley will be able to provide burial space for the next 100+ years. At the time of need, the funeral home or family contacts the National Cemetery Scheduling office, faxes/ emails the discharge document, and schedules the burial. It is that streamlined. The burial benefit is for the Veteran and spouse.
My dad had military honors yesterday. They dont have 21 gun salute anymore
As long as you have a copy of your DD 214, you are good. Basic elegibility...2 years, general, under honorable, or honorable discharge. Just keep that discharge in a safe place. With the DD 214, burial arrangements can be made right after a Veteran ( or spouse) passes away.
A disinterment request must be signed by the listed Next of Kin and all surviving children.
Yes!
Thanks I spoke to the staff so Iβm happy I can attend
About 1 to 2 weeks no more then 2.5 weeks
The gates are open from Sun Up to Sun Down.
Open for visitation sun up to sun down. Administration open 8-430pm
Yes. You still need the veteran's discharge document to verify eligibility. And, if the veteran's remains are unrecoverable, the veteran can have a Memorial Marker. Call the office for more information.
I think they have something for urns if you cremate your parents but all the rest I do believe they have the headstones it's like they're symbolic gesture
Just bring your State issued ID. If you drive in the main gate, the first building you come to is the welcome center admin building and you can inquire there as how to look up the name and location of the person whose gravesite you want to see.
We allow families 30 minutes for a short committal service. It is intended for a final goodbye not a memorial or funeral. We invite families to do those offsite.
8-430pm m-f administrationSun up to sun set , 365 days a year for visitation
I'm not sure. Please call the office prior of course before Memorial Day.
561 total...90 of which are developed
Funeral home might be able to organize it. Otherwise they have an office at the Sacramento National Cemetery to answer your questions. You'll probably need your husband's DD214, Certificate of release from military service. Sorry for your loss. My dad was buried there and it is a beautiful place. Visit this link and it'll give you more detailed info. Even has the telephone number for someone to answer your questions. https://www.benefits.gov/benefit/760.
This cemetery places the urn containing ashes in the ground or in a funerary wall.
The VA can tell you and your husband if you are eligible for burial via his/your Deform 214. They can not preplan a burial. It is a first come system.
I believe it starts this weekend. I work there as a sub contractor ( headstone inscription ) the boxes have shown up and there's a semi trailer parked by maintenance with more wreaths. I believe I heard some one say it was this weekend
Yes if his remains are layed to rest there
They have a kiosk on site outside admin building. Or you can go inside admin mon-fri 8am - 430pm
You can call the office Monday through Friday for more information.
Most all walkways are wheelchair accessible. If you have power chairs it is challenging during inclement weather. Ask the cemetery for assistance.

If she is getting buried that day, there will be a staging area for funeral.. sorry for your loss.
They are open every day until sunset. Besides, this sounds more like a complaint and not a question. You need to contact the cemetery directly, as these questions are not addressed nor read by cemetery staff.
Bets bet is too call asap
They do not have flowers for sale so you will need a florist. You can have flowers at any service. They will be placed at the burial site following the service at the cemetery. If there are a lot of flowers, they may ask you to take some home. Hope this helps.
Use one of the kiosks provided to search by name.
