This is an unusual State campground in the Adirondacks because of its spacious open grassy areas. Most Adirondack campgrounds operated by the State have no grass cover and are heavily treed with dead leaves and pine needles only. This is a relatively new campground and was the site of a former upscale resort hotel with a rich history. The aforementioned grassy areas were the resort’s golf course. The beach is tiny but adequate. If you desire shade and trees, choose sites in the Amphitheater Loop. Be prepared for mortal combat with black flies and gnats.The hamlet of Schroon Lake is a ten minute drive and has everything you will need for provisions as well as dining.

BEWARE TOO MANY GENERATORS! No electricity here which makes for great camping, except year after year, everyday, campers run generators within the designated hours and beyond. We always have to ask staff to tell people to turn them off. Sometimes people turn them off, sometimes they don’t. It would be nice if the generator problem could be addressed more strictly. In the last 10 years people with bigger rigs and generators have realized what a beautiful place this is and many run the generators all day. We have also brought our bigger camper here but not a generator. The Manor deserves 5 stars but the noise has to be addressed. This is our favorite place. Gorgeous large sites, super clean grounds and bathrooms. It’s beautiful, great beach, dock, slips, magical old amphitheater and so on!

We go to this park every year. Best spots for tent camping are the quieter Amp. Loop spots. Bring my kids and my dogs. It's so much fun and so relaxing.

Terrific campsites - shaded, lots of space, many water-facing. Clean and modern facilities, bathrooms were really well maintained.
