A Great Cavern tour in West Virginia that is seasonal This site is located along WV 9 several miles down two lane roads. There is a fairly large parking lot around that is the center of a family style restaurant, a gift shop and a restroom building. We were lucky and got on one of the last tours for the season on Halloween. This is a 45 minute tour that runs on the hour. You buy your tickets at the gift shop. If you have to wait there are some things to do around the site. You are asked to put on a safety hat that is provided for you. The tour starts from behind the gift shop and leads directly down into the caverns. The tour was guided and showed many of the various parts of the cavern system. It is an absolutely fascinating cavern system that is well preserved. You have to walk from the entry behind the building to about a ¼ mile where you exit the system. There are low ceilings, wet stairs and tight spaces. This is only open at certain times of the year so please be sure to check before you visit. It is an excellent tour and I highly recommend it for anyone in the area interested in caverns.

Having visited about 30 caves and caverns I must say that this one is rather mediocre. Enjoyable as caverns go but ultimately forgettable because there simply are not that many formations in this this cave. There are some, just not many. The lighting of the formations was good throughout the cave although there is one section with the garish, tacky Christmas lighting that show caves like to do.

Great little stop on the way to our camp. Reasonably priced restaurant and a cute little gift shop. Our guide was very knowledgeable and loud enough to where our extremely large group could hear the info she provided. Wasn't too extreme for my 60 year old mother in law.

Your guide is friendly. The experience does not take to long and tours run every half hour. There are nearby swing sets for kids and families while waiting. The caverns are cool and drip a little so you may want to have a sweater.

I can’t believe someone asked the question about smoking in the caves. That was kind of funny. Lol
Yes, there is a gift shop, as well as, a restaurant/ice cream shop.
About $15 per person
Cavern Tours are $15 for adults, $10 for 13 and under and 4 and under is free. They offer a 10% discount for AAA, seniors and military. 15 people or more drops the price to $13 a person, so saves $2 a person including kids. They also offer gemstone mining. Get a bucket for $30, $50 or $70.
Yes it is toddler friendly. Just keep them close. The tour guide is helpful and safe as well.
$15 for an adult 13+ $10 for kids 5-12 and 4 n under free
I don't really see how the caverns could be made ADA but the restaurant is.
