Mighty perdy!! Please note that rattlesnakes have been a huge issue the last three years, please be safe and attentive. Also note that Californians aren't welcome up here, just wanted to make sure that's pointed out as well, more info to be found at the trailheads. XoXO

Great place to spend a day outdoors! Tons of trails and picnic areas. Only reason it’s getting 3/5 stars is because we couldn’t find a map anywhere so I recommend you download the All Trails map before making the drive. There will be limited service. Do not drive up to the top in hopes for a view, there are only parking lots with more difficult (and obviously much higher) trails. Pack sunscreen and wear a hat on the Pipeline Trail.

I’m absolutely in love with my neighborhood Millcreek Canyon! I’m starting to revisit the trails in winter and they are gorgeous. There’s lots of options for shorter, quick hikes as well as longer, more intense. Lots of hikers and doggos out enjoying the trails. We went on desolation trail to the SLC overlook which is 5 mi round trip and ~1200 ft elevation gain which took almost 3 hrs to complete. The view was worth it. Enjoy the hike!

Spectacular views. Perfect time of the year for sledding and hiking. So beautiful and serene. If you are in the area or just passing through, make the time. You will not be disappointed.

That can vary, but usually it's okay, assuming you practice proper fire safety. There is usually a wildfire threat level board at the entrance to the canyon.
Salt Lake County Ordinance #1480, Section V Chapter 8.04.170: requires that dogs MUST BE LEASHED IN THE ENTIRE CANYON on EVEN-NUMBERED DAYS and are allowed to be unleashed on odd-numbered days except in developed areas.
It is closed from November 1st to July 1st
There used to be a pipeline on it. There's old pieces of riveted pipe strewn about all along its entirety. Pretty cool. 👍
I think you are likely talking about the winters gate that opened up July 1st and yes there are some amazing hikes up there wortb checking out!
Only Backcountry camping is allowed in Millcreek canyon. Camping must be at least 1/2 mile off the road and 200 feet from developed areas and water. Be sure to pack out all you pack in.
Yes and they are not bad at all
Yes. They have off leash dog days on odd numbered days
The whole forest is a picnic place. You can bring your dog with you but you have to keep it leashed
I've only been to dog lake and all I've seen swimming there were furry friends 🐕. It's sooo cute watching them swim around. Worth the hike.
Fee is $3 per car when you leave the canyon
Dogs yes. Car camping no. There's a $3 fee when you leave the canyon though.
I've seen people horseback riding but I can't say for certain it is authorized, sorry.
Yes, yes they are. You can stay at the picnic area until 10 pm.
Only fires that are allowed, for now are in those steel fire places. Camp fires are not allowed
Opens July 1st
3 dollars per car
