Hiked the sugar loaf trail and fly trap trail. Very clean trails. Don't forget bug spray!

We enjoyed our stay. We did have an issue with someone snooping around our campsite during our first night. We didn't get a good night sleep the second night since we were all on guard. Everything else was great. Definitely will be back.

Nice smallish state Park with nice fairly private campsites and a marina.

Great place and the off-road sand trail to the banks are awesome

Theres is a few sites that are real close to the river
Yes
There are 4 cabins, each with a queen sized mattress and a bunk with two single size beds on each bunk. There is more floor room for air mattresses. There IS an A/C unit in each cabin with obviously electricity within the cabin. The only thing missing from the cabins is running water. The biggest problem with these cabins is availability... I just booked one 11 months from now.
Yes. Each site has a fire pit with a grate that folds over it that you can use to grill on the open fire.
It depends on the site you select. The park has added some FHU sites, so be careful to read the site description for each site as they vary.
Yes, you will be fine. And enjoy your camping trip, beautiful sunsets at the marina, everyone goes down to watch the sunset every night.
If you mean hook ups and pull throughs as reservations and pull in and check in then yes
You can spead them right off the beach. My sisters in law dad was spreader off the beach in Morehead city.
We paid around 60-70$ for a spot for 3 days (weekend in June). More than enough space to park our SUV and A 10 person tent.
Yes they do have spots for that!
Yes in the park on a 6' leash or less. They are only allowed on the actual beach after 5pm.
How much are cabins?
I'm at carolina beach state park. We're staying here while we work on the Storm recovery. When I called in after lunch, they said that they weren't closing it today, but there's still a possibility of closing it at noon tomorrow. So far, they haven't closed it yet, but it's still up in the air as to whether or not they will. I'd suggest calling the park office. Winds are expected to be between 40 miles per hour and 60 miles per hour, with minimal to medium damage possible in the area.
Yes, there is definitely fishing within walking distance. It's saltwater fishing, so you will need a saltwater fishing license. Also, check with the marine office to see not only what is biting, but what the rules are for what you can fish.
Not sure....i think there is a 14 day limit tgen you have to move to a different spot....thats how it is here at kings mountain battleground state park....
Yes, about 10 sites I believe, # 5 and 10 r the best ones. Brand new electric
Yes. It includes a camp ground and a marina. There are both campsites and cabins.
I don't know the campground prices but the cabins are $55 a night plus taxes abs fees. There is a two night minimum and they are well worth it.
You can't take vehicles on the beach at the state park
I have never seen it done there
Yes but they have to be turned off from 11pm-7am
Depends on the time of year. Call the ranger station for reservations and details.
Best to book a year in advance
I don't know, it's a great camping spot
Most every tent site can accommodate a large tent.
Depends on availability. I normally search through "reserveamerica.com" when I want to see the availability of campsites
Go to the marina by the boat ramp
Yes, make sure to call ahead and book a campsite. The marina 8s about half a mile from the campgrounds if you walk by road, by trails it's .7 and narrow. Best bet is to plan two trips or to pack light. They sell firewood at the marina store, which is where you check in for camping. Not much in the way of food though.
Was there for five days last week. Many sites closed for construction. Saw a few pull through sites. Others are long enough for bigger RV's. Call the office, folks there are very helpful.
Cabins are around $40 something a night (website didnt have exact amount)with standup bbq grills
Not on the trails but on roadway to marina
Yes them mosquitos are fierce... Raccoons will raid camp too so keep all food in car..my nice had food in tent and they tried get in so that's a NO NO
Maybe not sure they do have a picnic area so I would expect that they dp5
Yep, its the marina office. Not the building when you first drive in.
Yes but not all of them. So call ahead for reservations
A little unrelated, but when I visited a few weeks ago I learnt you can take dogs on the beach at any time on a leash.
Campsite rates vary with both electric $33.00 and non electric sites $23.00. There are cabins as well for around $ 55.00. Availability is limited so book as early as possible. Prices can change, they have gone up from last year. There is walk up availability some times as well. Great place to camp. They are also doing some construction of new sites most of 2020. Check out there website ncparks.gov/Carolina-beach-state-park. Have fun!
Its hard to say. They have full hook sites and others no hook ups. They are different prices. I stayed on a full hook up site with a senior pass for 8 nights under $200
As long as you got the salt and fresh water licence.
Yes, if you are discreet and well behaved, no worries. We have never had a problem.
Yes at the state park you have access to the south west side of snow cut and the bay. By the picnic area you have a nice shoreline area. You can fish at the marina and there is a small dock platform to fish from just past the marina as well as more shoreline facing the bay. You will need a fishing license and all NC regulations apply. Stop in at the gift shop and they may have some fishing info as well. Don't believe they sell bait so you need to bring that with you. Have fun!
NONE.
If you like the cold weather it would be great!
Fifty-five for senior like me or sixty for others. Price is on website. They are small with queen bed in front room and two sets of bunk beds in second room. They have AC/ heat in each cabin. Grill, fire ring and picnic table. You have to use bathroom and shower in campground.
Yeah if you go down to the marina you can fill it up with water.
Go to ncstate.com and it will be there on the site
Town of Carolina beach website.
I think we paid $26 in April. Fairly expensive for what it is, but it's the beach so I guess that's why.
Always reserve ahead if you can, especially during the busy season (spring and summer)
Yes
On Carolina Beach you can go on Freeman Park drive out and camp. You will need a 4x4 vehicle, a metal container to put fire in and purchase a pass
I don't believe so
No
Non-electric $15-$23, electric $18-$28
At your own risk but i wouldn't advise it orster beds will cut you up
I know they have more tent sites than rv spots but not sure about the pricing. I have looked it up on the website before.
Yes. This park is awesome for camping.
Dunno, but we put a 8 man tent and 4 man and had plenty of room
They are only open until 6pm. If you call them ahead of time, arrangements might be possible. I've had rangers do it for me at other state parks.
Yes you can. Seen many people with their dogs.
I think the official closing time is 10pm
As long as you want too
No pool. You can swim in the shallows on the river side (near Sugarloaf Dune). But DO NOT swim in Snow's Cut. The current is deceivingly fast and will take you under in no time. Even very skilled swimmers have drowned in the cut. Also, there are alligators in the cut. You might see people swimming in the cut, but remember that you swim at your own risk. It's really just better not to do it.
12 volt and RV.
About 4 hours to Wilmington and then another 25 minutes or so through to the park.
Check in time is 4:00 pm for the campground and check out is 3:00 pm. At least it was in early March, 2018.
Yes they do! Daily or up to 30 days I think, on a first come, first served basis, and it's a little protected harbor. Price is $369/mo. for 30 to 35 ft. boat to give you an idea of the average price.
Tiled with hanging curtains to pull closed for privacy. Clean, several available and well maintained.
No long term camping. Go to the web.
5 minutes top to the nearest beach access. You can also drive out on the beach at Freeman park at the North end of Carolina beach and also at Fort Fisher at the south end. There is a fee for a pass for that. Fort Fisher has a bath house and is handicap accessible. They even have beach wheel chairs and the aquarium is right there. Have fun place is great tons to do
I think around $25/night. They only have 10 full hook up sites. The rest are mostly water/electric.
approximately 3 miles
Yes small ones just added last year they're actually pretty cool it's not tents only they have water and sewer connections or a dump station you can bring a camper they have a boat ramp Marina nice place you can rent Kayaks cookout area
