Hi Jacquelyn, thanks for your question. Your system does not require regular maintenance. It's best to monitor your production regularly though so you can spot an issue early.
They told me that it's possible if I really wanted one. It didn't make sense in my case. For the occasional power outage it was more cost effective to add a generator to my propane system.
Your projected usage is based on about 40 variables such as how many people in the house, what appliances you have, batches of laundry per month, tv sets, other devices, etc, etc. That configuration is the base they use to determine what you'll pay. ( A household of two seniors will be considerably less than a family with teenagers). Mine is going to be 2/3 s less. If I use more, I don't pay, if it's less they reimburse.
I would call the sales person you dealt with to reschedule, I had to reschedule several times and never had ant oroblems
