huge shoutout to E.C. Tree LLC! Their crew was quick, efficient and safe! 3rd Arborist company our family has worked with in 10 years and easily the best! 🌲

Tough job done right Ed Casner of E.C. Tree LLC is a true professional. Recently we found out access to our water main shut off valve for our house was buried under a 50 year old Dogwood tree in our front yard. We called E.C. Tree on Thursday at 12pm and they were at our door at 4pm to evaluate the problem. He offered to do the job the very next morning if the water was an emergency. Fortunately it wasn’t but he and his crew were still here on Saturday morning at 8:30am. This was not an easy job as any mistake could have broken the pipe to the house and created an even bigger problem. The roots had overgrown the top of the water main. They had to delicately chainsaw, pick axe, and dig around the water main without damaging the valve. (picture below) I would highly recommend E.C. Tree LLC if you are looking for a reputable tree service crew. If you are still reading this review, I also wanted to say how professional and knowledgeable the office team was as well. I was in a panic, fearing the worst of water flooding the basement without a way to shut it off. (My inside main valve isn’t working which started this whole effort.) Kim assured me they could handle it and explained what would happen next. This gave me calm knowing there was a clear course of action. If you have a tough job, they are the people to call.

EC Tree's service was great. I requested a tree removal service. They showed up on time, explained the process patiently, performed the project smoothly and professionally, also offered a reasonable price. I highly recommended their tree service! Thank you!

EC gave me best price to cut a huge (20+ foot) hemlock and its three trunks, trim a second huge hemlock and remove a weed tree growing inside it, and trim decorative tree in my front yard. Did great job with all contracted items. Came on time and worked quickly. Needed to return with arm truck to trim highest branches and did so in a timely fashion. Will be my go-to service for any future tree work.

Per Connecticut state law, whoever owns the property that the tree has landed on is responsible for clean-up. If there were damages to your property, we recommend taking photos and contacting your insurance company.
Absolutely! Hanging branches are a hazard that can quickly become a disaster. Give us a call and we will come to take a look!
You do have a few options, but we recommend speaking with your neighbor first about the situation and your concerns. If this is not possible then we would next recommend speaking with an attorney and then finally one of our arborist!
If this happens, we advise you not to approach the situation and stand very clear of any wires/tree debris. We will dispatch a crew to assess the situation and begin to clean up. Once our crew has made the situation safe, we advise calling your electrician to reattach the wires to your house.
We first recommend considering this when planting any trees in your yard - ideally nothing too close to your house/shed/pool/etc. so they have growing room as time goes on and will not threaten your property. If this is not an option, we recommend having your trees consistently pruned! Proper pruning will reduce breakage points in the tree, allow airflow through the branches and keep the weight properly distributed throughout the tree.
Economically speaking, piles of small twigs and branches are best handled by residential vehicles at your town's reclamation center. Larger branches that can't be easily moved or cut into smaller pieces with hand tools are better suited for professional services.
It depends on how long it's been sitting but typically a week is about as long as a pile can sit before it's too late. We try to avoid putting decomposing brush, dirt, and any other unknown debris into our chippers since this can potentially damage the blades. If we are unable to chip the debris, we can make other arrangements to have it hauled away. If you plan on doing a lot of pruning on your own, consider calling us in advance to manage the clean-up for you.
Yes! We will deliver wood chips within our general service area so long as you have an accessible area to receive them. Give us a call and let us know how much you are interested in getting and we will drop them off per your request.
Yes, we do! Arborist No. B-3163
Landscaping is not one of the services we offer, but we can give recommendations for reputable companies in our area that do!
One of the greatest pruning mistakes is to trim the trees at the wrong time of the year. Each tree requires pruning according to its type or flowering season. An expert tree care service has an in-depth knowledge of the tree species and can prune branches in the right way.
Tree pruning results in better growth of trees and makes your property safer. It is more effective when done by professionals. An unqualified tree trimmer might cause a pruning wound on a young tree which can impact its growth. One of the many other pruning mistakes is to prune branches on or below the branch collar and the branch bark ridge. It damages the tree's natural defense mechanisms.
If left to simply decay and rot away on its own, without any sort of treatment, a decaying stump can take up to ten years to disappear.
A stump grinder can grind 4 to 6 inches below the ground level. If deeper grinding is required, it can be arranged at an extra fee.
Small stumps generally take 15-30 minutes to grind, but bigger stumps may take many hours. We will arrange our work around your schedule and deliver a quick and efficient tree stump removal service without any problems.
Unfortunately, the tree removal process is not complete once the stump has been ground. There will be a pile of wood shavings remaining where the stump was ground and you must clean them out! If these shavings are left as is, or simply covered with topsoil, you will likely end up with a sinkhole in your yard. If you would like to plant grass in the area, we recommend replacing the shavings with topsoil and overseeding last.
Some small stumps we can dig out with a machine or pull out! This will not work for every stump and is dependent on the situation.
No, stump grinding is an additional and separate cost though we can include it as a line item in your estimate if you mention it during our initial call.
It depends on the size, location and number of trees. We can give an estimated time after the inspection once we've gathered all the relevent information and have inspected the area.
We do not offer wood splitting or cord stacking however if you would like us to leave the remainder of your tree in firewood length pieces (about 18 to 20 inches) then we would be more than happy to do so!
Yes, we will! Please let us know what you would like done with the leftover wood when we come out for an estimate and we will accommodate you.
We do have large, ground protection mats that can support over 100 tons. However, due to their large size and addiitonal time it takes to deploy this precaution, we do add an additional labor charge for usage. If you are super concerned about preventing ruts, please be sure to mention that when you call so we can include it in your estimate.
Although it is never our intention to damage a customer’s yard or public property and our crews work very hard to avoid this, there will likely be some disturbance to the area.
At this time there are no requirements for tree removal permits on private property in New haven county. Likewise, there are currently no tree species in Connecticut that are considered protected.
It depends! There is unfortunately no ‘one size fits all’ cost for having a tree removed. We will need to consider all aspects such as tree size, tree species, and location as well as accessibility for our trucks and crew.
