The Salvation Army Stores are really terrific and what they support is even better. They have nice music playing, the staff is friendly, and they have really good pricing.

**long post **If i could give 0 stars i would. Me and my 2 children were in the COH program at this shelter .s elm eugene greensboro nc(Everything started off ok at first) The building is old needed some major repairing im assuming from the hot water being off for 9 days just earlier that same month/busted pipe and HVAC problems.. the evening of 6/14 i arrive in from work was notified via memo effective immediately due to building needing repairs they were shutting down . ..and as of 6/15 at 3PM EVERYBODY had 2 options dismiss themself from program/or let them place us in temporary housing at a hotel which i chose temp housing due to fact i was scheduled to move 6/20 anyways((also KEEP IN MIND I NEVER GOT TO PROPERLY PACK OUR VALUABLES/BELONGINGS/PERSONAL DOCUMENTS in the trsh bags provided by them) due to fact i do work full time and was notified not even 24 hours ahead of time) Fast fwd we check in hotel and elevator didnt work which meant i had to carry what belongings i did have up 2 flights of stairs in 100 degree weather with bare minimal help .Due to us being in shelter for 4 months alot had been accumulated and wouldn't all fit in my car in one trip so i did go back to shelter after checking in and unloading first load. I went back for my second load and while there was verbally given permission by director Mr. Wilson to get things and if need be i could come back at a later time since i had to work following day and rest of week. well i end up leaving some things like hampers with dirty clothes baskets fan random things ,but the most important was my valuable trash bag of our items i left on couch .. Due to the fact i had stuffed trash bag in a rush to hurry packing it was too heavy to lift by myself so i left it to come back and get. That 1 trsh bag alone was my life it had my childrens gaming system/electronic chargers personal items personal tax documents ,school information rewards/certificates, clothes, 2 portable heaters, etc, and other miscellaneous items so as u see it was VERY valuable i left the bag as well as all my non perishables food items down to food seasoning to come back and get! With permission from supervisor briana McDuffie i arrived on 6.23 to finally get rest of belongings and MY ENTIRE TRASH BAG WAS STOLEN DOWN down to my food seasonings!!! Unacceptable this was done WITH A 24 HOUR rotating SECURTY GUARD AND WORKING CAMERAS KEEP IN MIND THIS IS NOT A PUBLIC BUILDING U HAVE TO BE BUZZED IN WITH SECURITY WHICH MEANS IT WAS A INSIDE JOB!!! ONLY THING THEY LEFT WAS MY 2 HAMPERS OF DIRTY CLOTHES AND MY FAN!!!! I NOTIFIED SUPERVISOR AND THEY DID NOTHING NOR DO THEY CARE! DO NOT RECCOMMEND THIS PROGRAM ! ANYONE WHO STEALS FROM AN ALREADY HOMELESS PERSON CANT BE TRUSTED !!THEY ARE SNAKES IN SHEEP ATTIRE and apparently work together !!! THE PROPER STEPS HAVE ALSO BEEN TOOK ON MY BEHALF! and from the information ive gathered from other residents this has been a repeating and they are very comfortable with getting away! which stops today

I got lucky by being 1 day over the time they were not accepting applications. Giving the current politics today asking for our race is a straight-up insult labeling us as a statistic and a factor in determining giving us help. Not sure if it was the security guard at the door but they were very friendly awesome guy just doing his job. However I highly frown a upon my experience being homeless 7 months and getting denied or dead ends for all the disability services/shelters I applied for and race some how being a appropriate factor.

Excellent store and knowing all proceeds goes to help the needy is even better
