My last 2 visits working with Dr Rogers have been very positive. Her compassion, way with dogs, and collaborative approach are what I look for in a great vet. If she was in a regular practice, she would be my primary vet. Dr Rogers spent time to understand fully what was going on and related well to the dogs. We openly discussed best options for Layka and came up with a good care plan. Outside of dentistry, I highly recommend Upstate to my clients and colleagues.

The staff is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Also considered financial limitations and helped make the best decision for care with that knowledge. Could use better waiting room chairs though.

I doubt they have one for the emergency side of the business, but you might want to call them directly and ask. FYI, emergency vet services is $175 to see a doctor. But they are very good.

We are a referral based specialty hospital. We would recommend contacting your family veterinarian first and if needed, they can refer you.

My dog has hurt her do too the nails turn sideways what should I do she seems to be in pain

Kathy Johnson | Oct 17, 2021
Smart Sassy | Oct 17, 2021

I suggest your local vet first. If nails cannot be solved then ask for next step in care. If extra care is necessary then ask for Upstate Vet referral. Visiting Upstate Vet is mostly for emergencies or specialist care beyond local vet and I imagine they would be more expensive to treat nail care compared to local Vet. Either way, I know Upstate Vet is superbly knowledgeable to handle any pet health issue.

Our best recommendation is to visit your primary veterinarian for a referral to see our Neurology Team. From there we can set up a consultation. Feel free to give us a call #864-233-7650 for further inquiries!

My dog threw up and had diarrhea with blood in it what can cause this

Donna Buck | Sep 12, 2021
Upstate Vet Emergency & Specialty Care - Greenville | Sep 12, 2021

Donna- a number of things or situations can be the cause. It's difficult to diagnose without seeing the pet in person. We encourage you to visit your primary veterinarian during the daytime- if needed they can refer you to Upstate Vet. Otherwise, you're always welcome to come in through our Emergency Care department night/weekends/holidays.

I can tell you when my dog had cancer a few months ago they did an xray first which was $250 then was going to do an ultrasound which was $350, but from the xrays she didnt need an ultrasound, it was too far progressed. They needed to do this first to see how to handle the cancer. Hope that helps.

Upstate Veterinary Specialists will not give you an estimate without seeing your dog. I took my dog in to be checked for cancer. They did his surgery within 30 mins of seeing him. They are a great clinic / hospital. Called and kept me updated even called after hours. They saved my fur babies life and I highly recommend them.
