Smithville lake is a beautiful place for picnics, family gatherings, boating, and swimming. There is also a campground and RV parking area. It is a state park so $6 per vehicle day pass or $50 annual pass. The water is perfectly warm to cool starting early to mid spring and near perfect for family swimming as the depth grades very slowly (less worry about little ones). Afterward you can go get some good ice cream from at the Captains Corner.
