Hi Nancy, great question. Probably less chance of termites in bark mulch, but can't say that for other critters looking for a warm home for the winter. I'd be more concerned with rodents than insects.

Hi Robert, it would matter on your mowing equipment, variety of bluegrass and how level your ground. For the average lawn we recommend 3 to 4 inches. Shorter in cool weather, longer during heat of summer. Less than 3 prior to overseeding.
