Don't ask about a dog. Make an appt to see dog. Then all of a sudden dog is placed. Even though you made an appt to see said dog. Kind of a bummer.

No one will answer the phone! Called numerous times and left messages and still no answer.

Loving people doing their best to educate and adopt animals. What could be very somber, seeing unhomed animals, is instead a place of hope.

We went yesterday after looking at the website to see if we could find a best friend for our older pupper. Jesse was so so so helpful!! I also really appreciated the way she so obviously cared for both the humans and animals safety! She was really amazing and it was so nice too someone genuinely love what they do and be extremely knowledgeable and helpful! She gave us great advice on introducing our new doggo to our established one and was so very happy that we adopted. She really loves the animals and deserves a huge raise!!

You can bring them there and tell them of this issue. They will be happy to take them in.
If you are surrendering your pet there is a fee. If you found a stray animal, you can give us a call to make an appointment to drop it off by calling 864.467.3950.
Yes we do. Just come in and tell our adoption counselors what you are looking for and they will show you the dogs that will match well with your needs.
Yes but worth it because they are very efficient.
Try cbd, it worked for both my dogs!
Sometimes we have specials where dog adoptions are free, but our adoptions are $35 every day. That includes spay/neuter, a microchip, vaccines and testing.
Sorry to hear your dog is missing. Please follow the steps on our lost pet page. You can see animals who have recently been turned in there too. https://www.greenvillecounty.org/ACS/ILostAPet.aspx
Unfortunately we can not offer boarding. We are currently filled past capacity. If you qualify under low-income guidelines you can make an appointment at our clinic. Learn more on our website: https://www.greenvillecounty.org/ACS/VeterinaryCare.aspx
We have more than 20 animals coming in each day, so getting animals out of the building for space by doing adoptions is very important in saving lives. Heartworm preventative is also very important to save your dog's life. If you cannot afford heartworm prevention, it is likely not a good financial decision to adopt a dog. We want everyone to be able to adopt, and we understand that sometimes there are times of financial hardship. If you are a current pet owner who needs assistance, please come by and we can try to help you during a time of financial struggle.
Yes he is house trained. He is a Beagledor. He has the markings of a Beagle, but the height almost of a Lab. He is handsome!!!LOL
Its a very good place.
I don't think their vet is open on the weekends.
Yes
Animal Control
I believe you need to make an appointment! They get really busy.
Idk bc it might be someone's cat and they see cats as they can take care of themselves being abandoned.... are you positive it's not anyone else's cat in the neighborhood they just got maybe for Christmas.. I think the only way they would come get it if it was a kitten or if its REALLLY no ones cat and it keeps bothering you they might come then but again I'm not positive.... I just know I was at the shelter not long ago and they rehomed all the cats there and someone brought in a stray or abandoned cat and they wouldn't take it and told them what I already said that it maybe someone's else cat and take it back to were she found it and told her they can take care of themselves they aren't like dogs.. dogs can't take care of themselves but cats can.... fyi
What kind of dog.
They open in the morning, if I'm not mistaken you can take them in and they will put them on a stray hold for a week or so to see if the owner comes in.
Yes for veterinary services
Sorry but I'm not sure. Give them a call. Have a great day
No, just dogs and cats.
Animal Care is not the humane society. You may be thinking about the Greenville Humane Society. I'm not sure if animal care gives discounts or not, but right now, adoptions are only $35 for a dog. I adopted one Wednesday.
Take it to the intake area of Animal Care.
Yes but I believe it's on a first come first serve basis. They start at 8 so suggest getting there early to beat the line.
You literally have to go by there. It's ridiculous, but 100% true. I'm not even sure why they have a phone, but it's never answered. The other option is to call from the moment they open til they close back to back until you get someone.
The shelter will not take them unless they are 2 lbs and smaller. Kittens is all they will take and you have to have an appointment
There is a place on the website for rehoming your pets. Greenvillecounty.org go to departments animal care.
You call animal control
I think they will provide a humane capture cage. You then call and they will tell you when to bring in the feral cats. Good luck!
If community cats (feral) Greenville County Animal clinic will fix them for free if Greenville County Resident. Their website explains procedure. At least they will not multiply.
Everything is operating as normal. You can bring the cat in today.
You must be 18 to apply.
You will need to call 864-467-3950 to make an appointment.
There are some great resources for rehoming your pet on this page: https://www.greenvillecounty.org/ACS/RehomeMyPet.aspx
It's best if you call the shelter to speak with someone regarding this.
Get in touch with the shelter, they can help.
Looking for a small dog that is an adult or senior
Call prior to arriving. Must be in a humaine trap or carrier. Take to lost and found pets. Hope kitty finds it home.
Yes
Will they take in a pair of abandoned kittens two months ish old ?
Yes, open today but it is currently by appointment only so just give them a call first!
Make sure you have them in one of the humane feral cat traps they provide. We brought a stray in one of our cat carriers and they would not accept it, despite that I had rented one of their cages already and returned one and made an appointment to drop off the cat. They did not tell me at any point that I would need to bring them in one of those specific cages despite having multiple opportunities for someone to do so. It was very frustrating and we had to let the cat go until we can afford to rent a cage again.
Our clinic is not currently open to the public due to trying to conserve PPE. We recommend you visit your regular vet. We will update our website when public clinic operations resume.
The standard practice is no food for at least 12 hours before a surgery of any type. Water is always permitted. Dehydration can pose a problem during surgery, so it's best to keep water available.
I think so but it is loud and full of barking dogs that you can hear from outside. It might be overstimulating.
No, just go ask at the desk there for a spay/neuter appointment. Or go to Richland Creek Animal Clinic on Stone Ave. They are very affordable and easy to make appointments with.
There are often rabbits available at GC Animal Care. Occasionally on Craigslist also.
No they are closed today
Angela, if you leave a message they will call you back as soon as they can. They had almost 800 animals be brought in during July and that puts a large strain on their clinic to get all of those animals ready for adoption.
Hey Emily, Animal Care is an open intake shelter. They are working towards becoming no kill but it takes the community working together. They only have so much space so if they are totally overwhelmed with animals then yes, they have to put down cats and dogs. This is NOT something anyone wants to do. Instead of simply taking your cat there, try to find another home yourself. This helps reduce the burden placed on the shelter to try and find homes for even more cats and also fulfill an obligation that you take on as a pet parent when you got a cat.
I tried to bring in two strays I rescued... Said they were not taking owner surrenders..when I explained I was not the owner and had rescued them they told me they had no room..and it would be MONTHS before I could bring them in...when I asked what I could do I got no answer... smh... We are unable to keep these dogs due to fact we rent. This is why so many people dont help with strays...just because you save a dog from bad conditions doesnt mean you are able to keep them...animal care was NO HELP...
We offer the following for those who meet low-income requirements: Physical Exams Vaccinations Parasite Protection Preventative Medicine (example: heartworm and flea preventative) Laboratory Tests and Treatments Treatment of Minor Injuries
Utah? They focus on local adoptions
Please take a look at our instructions on our website about what to do when you find a cat. https://www.greenvillecounty.org/ACS/IFoundAPet.aspx
Look up Greer Guinea Pig rescue. I adopted a piggy from there, and my experience was very good. They seem to take in any piggies needing homes and they take good care of them.
Our adoption staff's direct line is 864.467.3985. Please give them a call and leave a voicemail if no one answers. They generally return calls within a few hours if they can't answer because all staff members are with customers.
Did this get taken care of?
You should call them. Sometimes euthanization is the ethical thing to do to relieve the suffering of an animal that either cannot be healed, or cannot be healed without disproportionate expenditure of resources. If you do not have an established veterinarian to consult, I'm sure that these people will be able to get you in touch with someone who can help you figure out whether it is more ethical to have them euthanized or to try and save them. It is a hard decision to make, I've been through that a few times myself. A good, ethical veterinarian will be able to help *you,* regardless of whether the path will be through restoring the health of the animal, or through ending the suffering of the animal. Neither road is easy, and neither road is always right, but as animal owners, it is our responsibility to the animal to do the right thing for that animal when the choice must be made.
I'm sure that they can, but they might not be your most cost-effective solution. You should call them for the details.
It is a "no kill" shelter, but as I was telling someone else on here, that is a loose term that needs some specificity. There are veterinary situations that arise where the humane thing to do is euthanize an animal. There are public safety situations that can arise where an individual animal is deemed dangerous to the public, and government regulations (DHEC) or a court order may require that an animal be euthanized. Do they euthanize animals for not being adopted within a couple of weeks of arrival, like in decades past? No. That's what makes them a "no kill" shelter. If by "no kill," you mean no animal is ever euthanized for any reason, that doesn't exist; and it would be unethical for both animals and humans if it did.
They have special drives for spay/neuter a couple times a year. It's not well advertised, and you have to dig for it to find out when. Sometimes it's only on their Facebook page, sometimes only on their website, and sometimes you just have to call them and find out. When they do it, demand is always high. Even under their normal prices to do it, rarely is anyone else's rates any better around here. Still, shop around, though.
Yes
Do u do like retreat?
No they keep pets a long time we have adopted 2 dogs it is a geeat place with great people
Get an appointment with the humane society
Any dog ready for adoption will already have that done. They do have a period of time after adoption where you can bring them for veterinary care.
I can be found on Facebook as Linda Spranger Jetty. I have adopted from you two times in the 21 years here in GVL. A sweet moggie you called Gummy and a beagle I named Hunter Chase who has passed away. My moggie now named Barrett Sundance Jetty is doing great after many medical interventions. Have had him 3 years now. My vet is The Cat Clinic for my cats and for a dog I use Cleveland Park Animal Hospital in TR.
They neuter/spay all animals before adoption and do provide spaying/neutering services for an animal you already have.
Look for pet vac in your area they do a great job at low cost. I think they are around about once a month
Yes
No
There's a vaccine clinic on Tuesdays, 5-6:30pm. Flea & Heartworm preventatives will be available then.
A one Yr. Rabies shot is $10. A three Yr. Rabies shot is $15. Available at the pet vaccine clinic on Tuesdays, from 5-6:30 pm.
The actual vet clinic is only available to those who meet the low income criteria to qualify for services. There is a vaccine & preventative pet clinic for the general public on Tuesdays 5-6:30 pm. I would ride over & speak to them in person, if contact couldn't be made otherwise.
No, there only taken if they have a sign saying "Im Adopted Hands Off"
