Beautiful view of VA, TN, and KY after a challenging, but not long walk.

This trail is easily accessible from Visitor Center. It is about 2.2 miles total. Going feels much longer as it is all up hill; there's about 900 feet of incline within that 1.1 mile. There are several markers along the way. Make sure to see the Indian Rock, the Saddle Gap sign, Daniel Boone stone, and finally the tri state markers at the top where you can be in 3 states at once. There is plenty of parking and is between the Visitor Center and Pinnacle overlook so a good route would be Visitor Center, Tri State Trail, then Pinnacle.

A slightly challenging hike up hill but totally worth it. Its absolutely beautiful and pictures dont do it justice. Definitely a must do and the walk back down was easy

Great hike. Started out in Cumberland Gap. It is for sure an up hill climb. But the distance is about 2 miles one way so not to difficult. The trail is marked and very well maintained. We passed a number of other hikers along the way. The view is fantastic. Highly recommend taking time to hike it.

Are there a good number of hikers on the portion of the Wilderness Rd Trail from the Iron Furnace/Gap Cave to the Tri State Point? Is it safe to hike alone?

We felt very safe, in fact we ran into two park rangers walking the trails too!

How hard would this hike be for someone 76 with arthritic knees? Are there places, to sit and rest along the way?

Very strenuous for that instance. Not really a good place to stop to the top.
