High intensity trekking trail. Specially the ice cave is adventurous. Lots of wild animals on the way. We spotted a black snake too. We went in summer but fall season might be really scenic and beautiful. Online Parking reservations needed on weekends. Would love to visit again!

Gorgeous views off the cliff! Well worth the hike. It is a gravel trail and a staircase up to the cliffs. Starting this May until October, parking reservations for the Sams Point area is required on weekends and holidays.

OK pay attention: BRING BUG SPRAY! Sam’s point and ice caves? A MUST! (I’ll def go back). The waterfalls? Get ready for a good 2 hour of rocky as hell terrain, bring water!!!! The view is amazing but that’s about it. I will not go back but you should prob go at least once BUT make sure you bring water and a lot of patience. The lake? Don’t even bother. The staff is AMAZING! Sharon and Rick in particular deserve an ovation. PS: on the weekends you MUST make a reservation online.

Ice caves were closed when I visited but it's a short hike up to the overlook. Parking was $10. You can walk right to the edge of the cliffs. I took the stairs/shortcut up to the point and the trail back down for some views in a different direction. Could be a full day of hiking or just an hour. Visitors center was helpful in planning my visit when I arrived.

There is a parking machine in front of the Welcome Center. It is 10.00. Cash or Credit Card - just put the ticket on your dashboard. (It's worth the price in my opinion.)
We open at 9 am. Last weekend there were 130 cars outside the gate at that time. Our parking lot holds about 75 cars. The fall weekends when the leaves are at peak foliage are always extra busy. You can add the "NY Parks Explorer" app to your phone, and favorite Sam's Point- then you will receive live updates on parking status.
Yes they are.
They never say... but it could be a while. Usually it's around June. But I don't think they opened them at all last year because of covid. There's tight spaces and you may as well be indoors. They might not be open until 2022.
Hello Mr. Raskin, As an article 20 Park Preserve, Sam's Point balances access with conservation and preservation. The lot size allows us to preserve the ecological resources of the Park Preserve. if possible, arrive early on weekends or visit on weekdays Thanks for your interest in Sam's Point
They are not. Unsure when they will reopen.
Yup! There are a few picnick tables at the trailhead by the visitors center, no grills though (it's prohibited)
It's not allowed
Opens 9:00 a.m., according to their website.
Probably about 3.5 miles round trip to the ice caves. I tracked it from the parking lot to the entrance of that walk to the caves and it was 2.3.
No, there are some hikes around the lake that are flat/wide paths that would be, but not this hike.
Foliage is turning but we are not at peak
No
I've done three of them, but I'm sure you can check online. Verkeerderkill Falls my favorite.
