This mansion is so awesome! So much history in this one home. For those fans of Hamilton, apparently a small piece of that story happened here.

We visited on a day when no tours were available, however us was great seeing the Victorian home and, knowing the story of Alexander Hamilton and the Schuyler sisters, it really put together the musical “Hamilton” into perspective. I recommend going on a day (or making an appointment) to tour the mansion.

Very interesting to imagine the stories portrayed in the Hamliton musical, played out at this location. We went in the off-season (April) so we couldn't go inside, but enjoyed it nonetheless. l have to note that the surrounding area was economically depressed, and properties unkempt..... not nice.

So I have a rather unhealthy "Hamilton" addiction...so here I am visiting his Father-in-law's house. Many in my tour group suffers the same affliction. It was tough not to break out in song at certain places. "Look around, Look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now" 😁 Great visit. Beautiful spot. Pictures include the room where Hamilton and Elizabeth got married. Heard some great stories. The tour guides emphasized the positive and negative characteristics of the Schuyler family...and Hamilton. This is true of most historic figures. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They kept groups socially distanced very well.

Charles Schumer has never lived at Schuyler Mansion. The house and grounds has been a state historic site and open to the public since 1917.
