I am a ovarian cancer patient. I was a referral from the Tampa VA. My VA doctor specifically sought out Dr. English at the Tampa General Cancer Center because "of her expertise in my cancer". We all knew the statistics in ovarian center...they usually are never good. But because my ovarian cancer was caught by accident in an preventive total hysterectomy and still in the very very early stages, I stood a good chance of surviving and beating it! Staging operation was done and by the grace of God and Dr. English and her team, I had NO SPREAD! My first Chemotherapy was yesterday and I couldn't say enough great thing about this amazing team of Nurses who tended to me.. they were Angels and got me thru , without any major complications. I got whatever I wanted off the food cart, extra pillows and a nice warm blanket in the privacy of my own room. It was an amazing experience in the most difficult circumstances and I am forever grateful to this staff! I pray God blesses them and hope TGH recognizes their willingness to go the extra mile for their patients. They deserve a raise!!! Thank you Ladies for your compassion. You all Rock!!

The overnight nurse I had took 30 minutes to a hour to come help me or give me medication every single time even when I was in severe pain she wasn’t taking my pain seriously and ended up disappearing for 2 hours and a different nurse had to come in and give me my medicine. She finally came in after a couple hours with my medication to find out that a different nurse already gave me my medications, she even opened up the package and almost let me take double the dose I was supposed to take but stopped me seconds before I drank it. I’d call my nurse and tell her I needed medication and she’s come in 20 minutes later asking what I needed, then take another 30 minutes to go get my medication even when I was scheduled to have my medication at a certain time and she knew I was in extreme amounts of pain she was not taking my care seriously. The next night the nurse showed up within minutes to find out what was going on and it took her literally two minutes to go grab my medication. The whole time I was at this hospital I felt like I wasn’t being cared for how I should have been. I was given little to no information and talking to anybody was troubling. Overall it was a terrible experience at this hospital. Update: I called the nurse and after waiting about 30 minutes the doctor came in to let me know they are switching me to a regular diet, after about 20 minutes later the nurse never showed up so I called again and she didn’t show up for about another 30 minutes later. I asked to get a dietishin in here and some water she disappeared for about another 30 minutes so I called again and a different lady came in and I just had her get me the water. The nurse finally came in 15 minutes later no water and said she requested the dietitian. This has been a horrible experience it has shown that they don’t care for their patients well being here. I will never be coming back to this hospital again. St Joseph’s south hospital cared for me so much better when I was there rather than here. This hospital has great cancer reviews but the lacking of the staff helping you with things like medicine, water, food, coming to see you when you call just isn’t worth the ratings.

I love the nurses and the front desk staff. The Drs are amazing to. The problem I have is that they never fill out my fmla paperwork. I'm on my second attempt to get it done, because the first time it was denied due to them "feeling it wasn't fair" to put a estimated time of my appointments. They also never call you back, and honestly I can say the problem is with the lady megan. She doesn't do her job ever.

Is Moffitt Cancer Center part of Tampa General?

No. There are some Fellows with USF that work both places but they absolutely are not affiliated. My wife was a patient at Moffitt and when she moved to Tampa General, it was a pain to get her records transferred to Tampa General.
