This is a nice park in a pretty area, with lots of places for fishing or gold panning. We stopped by to pan for gold, and had a lot fun. It was nice to be outdoors, and we found some nice gold dust and flakes.

Yeah..I seen that on the side of a building..talking about a "beach" in a town in the middle of the state and I said to myself wt? Anyhoo, went down there and there were locals fishing and they told us where to get a permit on a Sunday for panningπ Trout was big,but it's not a beach...it's a lake w/sand going round itπ

This place is beautiful! It gets crowded on the weekends but I scored a waterfront campsite on a weeknight and it was perfect. Close to the parking lot but still secluded, and you can take the footpath downtown for dinner or groceries. And the price can't be beat. I almost want to keep this place a secret!

The beach moniker is a bit confusing for an out-of-towner like myself, but the numerous pictures reveal its true nature. A simple parking area along the shore of the river, but those in-the-know park in Fairplay and walk over. A small bridge allows you to cross to the "beach" side, and walk a bit more along the water. Families wade into the stream at points, and the cool mountain water can be both refreshing and shocking, especially to Colorado foreigners.

No. It is just an area you can park and hang out at. There is a pond and river for fishing as well as a basketball hoop and a small walking path. The only thing you need a permit for us a fishing license if your fishing or a permit if you want to camp over night. Everything else is free to enjoy! In the winter there's a hill you can sled on!
I do belive you need a camping permit for the beach. Its states it in the sign at the beach but if your in your car you'll be fine for a night
Caniglia RE is good.
