Hartshorne Woods Park is a beautiful hilly wooded 794 acre site overlooking the Navesink River. This park is one of the highest elevations along the Atlantic Coast and was a coastal defense site for the NY harbor because of this. I was able to climb to the top of the Lewis Overlook and enjoy the scenic views. It’s a great place to run, ride your bike and walk your dog. The trees provide a lot of shade. You can stay on the wide paved paths or venture in the woods. Fun Fact: Hartshorne Woods Park has the most extensive and challenging trails in the Monmouth County Park System; over 15 miles.

Loved strolling through this park. It had paved trails as well as more interior dirt paths. Views are awesome. Good for taking kids along and learn some history along the way. Views of Sandy hook, WWII bunkers, visit to the twin towers (light houses) historic site.

What a fantastic and free park. The paved trail is really great work walking, running and, biking and I love all the wooded unpaved trails. There is even a small beach with calm water that is a great to take a break at. The bathroom at the main parking lot is clean and brand new. We will come back often.

Very well marked trails with many nice views and interesting army structures. Great for walking biking picnic of all ages. Big thanks to the guide in Lewis battery who made our trip more memorable.

No, I dont think its allowed...very quiet place. I would call the NJ Parks department and ask ..
I do not think so. Thompson Park in Lincroft rents equipment and runs cross country skiing programs.
I believe Hartshorne is the only county park that features "diamond" trails. MTB enthusiasts frequent these trails.
Looks like a no. Too bad seems like a cool place to hang out. But Sandy Hook is around the corner. Camping is allowed there
I don't know about parties. They're open Dawn till Dusk.
When you pull up and park, take the trail to the right. After a little walking, the trail will go downhill. At this point you will see the trail split to go to the beach part. Follow that.
Not sure. It is known for hiking, biking and there is a fishing pier which is a bit of walk from parking lots.
Not really. Even at low tide, the spot mentioned by other people wouldn't be good for clamming. I do not believe there's any restriction against it. The area just had the wing conditions.
