Now is the best time to learn more about hospice and ask questions about what to expect from hospice services. Although end-of-life care may be difficult to discuss, it is best for family members to share their wishes long before it becomes a concern. This can greatly reduce stress when the time for hospice is needed. By having these discussions in advance, patients are not forced into uncomfortable situations. Instead, patients can make an educated decision that includes the advice and input of family members and loved ones.
Hospice care is comfort care without providing any options to specifically cure the illness that is affecting the patient. This type of care is provided when the patient no longer has curative options or has chosen not to pursue treatment because the side effects outweigh the benefits. Palliative care is also hospice care but can also include options to treat the patient's specific illness.
Hospice can defienitly make a difference! Our goal at United Hearts Hospice Health Care Services is to empower the patient and provide the knowledge and expertise to help them make informed decisions about their health.
Hospice is a program of health care and is specifically designed for end of life care for patients and their families. Hospice is not intended to treat any specific illness, but rather make sure the patient and the patient's family is comfortable.
