Station is kept clean, bathrooms always neat and in working order, two Dunkins inside, very pretty ceilings, very easy to get to tracks and keep track of your boarding time

Wonderful staff who were very polite and hard working. The station was clean and train was on time. (There is also a bus terminal within the same station)

Perfectly functional and we appreciated the clean bathrooms, but there’s wasn’t much to do or see either in the station or around it and the signage wasn’t very clear. It’s also a big ugly, which is a shame given how nice New Haven as a whole is.

Yes, there are usually Amtrak employees around to direct, but the station is so small it's hard to get lost
Yes there is but I would not recommend it. The rep is horrible and the cars were in horrible conditions. Cigarette holes on seats car was dirty and smelled. HE OVER CHARGED ME BY HUNDREDS DO NOT GO TO THAT UNION STATION CAR RENTAL..
Pretty safe, they have security guards, and parking authority guys at the station, Mta police and Amtrak police in the office watching cameras making sure notning funny going on at the station.
You do not have to reserve a spot. When you arrive you'll receive a ticket that you leave in your car and then pay when you leave.
The only passenger train in the United States that takes automobiles/ motorcycles is Amtrak's AutoTrain, which runs from Lorton, VA to Sanford, FL.

Yes, there are cell phone charging stations at New Haven train station. They are straight ahead as your walking in the main door (in between the bathrooms and the ticket agents at the booths).
Yes, 16 mins. is enough time to change, etc. at New Haven Union Station. The bathroom is upstairs around the corner from the vending machines. It only takes 1 minute or less to walk from Any train platform to the bathroom (and 1 minute from the bathroom to Any train platform).

I actually downloaded the CT rail app and you can do it on there. Not sure if we can leave a car overnight. But I do know you can pay for your parking on the app
Amtrak and Metro North have restrooms in each car I believe. On CDOT / CT rail trains there is one restrooms per train. As far as backpacks exceeding carry on limits, I wouldn't think so but I would check the carrier's policy (Amtrak, Mets, etc).
Depending on which train service you'll be using. You can arrive 10 minutes before, get a ticket and navigate your way to the track. No baggage checks. Parking is available but not free.
There are no trains from New Haven Union Station that feature a dining car. All Amtrak Regional trains feature a cafe/ snack car that has unreserved seating for passengers to eat their Amtrak-purchased food.

I haven't been inside the station in some time and there are several businesses there. But I don't recall seeing a Car Rental Agency, but I would advise you to call the station.
