Great food, great atmosphere, great service, and great people. My wife and I came here for our anniversary and we received excellent service. The food was great. Make sure that you save some room for desserts because those may have been the highlight the cream Brulé was amazing.

We went as a family to The Roof. There were 3 things that stood out. 1. The view is amazing. Especially at night, you get a beautiful view of the nearby Temple square and the expanse of the city lights. 2. They have a live pianist who was playing beautiful music the entire night. She is very talented. 3. Many different choices of food. They had a salad bar, entree options, shrimp, crab legs, a fruit bar, and a dessert bar. It was pretty busy and it was kind of a let down that some guest brought their kids in pajamas who were running around and screaming. That is not the restaurants fault though. That is on the parents. The service was quick and attentive. Our waiter was constantly refilling our drinks without us asking and the bread rolls with honey butter were an amazing way to start off the dinner. The only real downside is that a lot of the food was not exactly on par with what I would expect for the price. I would expect a little higher quality. A lot of the food was dry, and the lettuce in the salad bar was wilted.

This place is 🔥🔥🔥 It’s soooo good! The service was lovely, they bring by rolls that are killer. They have a pianist that’s playing tunes at all times and it’s just a great experience. A beautiful view of the Salt Lake Temple and one side the capital. The food was exquisite. It’s a buffet and wow, ain’t never been to a buffet like that before. Honestly, this was probably my favorite dining out experience ever.

A gorgeous view of the entire Temple Square! Their hot chocolate is definitely a refreshing drink to start with! Roasted beef is succulent although the dessert is just a little bit too sweet. Considering also their phenomenal service from table assignment throughout check out, the Roof Restaurant certainly offers one of the best buffets in the country. Please do not forget the receipt in an exchange of complimentary parking in the City Creek underground parking!

No one really knows at this point, they say "It's closed until further notice due to COVID and renovation projects." So it could be months, or a year, or longer :(
I'm sure it will open back up at some point but they say "It's closed until further notice due to COVID and renovation projects." So it could be months, or a year, or longer :(
Yes, it is called the Capitol Room, I believe it costs $75 for it, plus dinner and tip. It does have a view of the Capitol, but not of the city or temple.

No. There's no alcohol served, but it's a very nice restaurant with a dramatic view and great food and atmosphere.
Reservations are not required but it helps in order to get the seating you desire. The best time to go in my opinion is sunset as the sun shines orange behind the temple.
You should plan on about $50/adult & as for kids it depends on age, but anywhere from $25-$50. The Seating is all dependent on availability but most all tables have spectacular views
Yes you can purchase a GC now & then whenever you want to go eat at the restaraunt you can make a reservation before hand, but no you dont need to make a reservation at the same time you buy a GC!
No, but it is definitely recommended. Sometimes they don't have any room for walk-ins, and usually it's over an hour wait for walk-ins during peak times.
No there not serving crab legs right now because they are closed on sundays
No but you if you are vegetarian they will accommodate you as long as you call ahead.
They change the menu every month, if you want it to be less busy I'd recommend going on a Tuesday
Not sure. It doesn't mention it on the website. This is what I found. Price differs on special event nights, which include: February 14, 2019; November 29, 2019 – January 3, 2020. Price does not include Specialty Beverages, Tax or Gratuity.
Yes you can...but it is more of an atmosphere for adults but no age restrictions.
I enjoy The Roof immeasurably :)
Cash is accepted. Enjoy your time in this wonderful establishment
About $40. A person. But in my opinion it is worth it. It is a nice place to go for a birthday or anniversary dinner.
I have checked the website before and it said that there were no tables but then I called and got a table so I would definitely call if you can. Also price is $35 a plate during regular times in $50 a plate during holiday. Enjoy!
Call the restaurant and inquire with them. Merry Christmas!
The name of the other establishment on the same floor is The Garden Restaurant :). Nice place, menu driven, and more casual. The Roof is an amazing experience for a restaurant.
As I recall yes there are vegan and vegetarian options. But recommend that you call The Roof and officially inquire. Enjoy :)
It's around $40, a little more during the Christmas Season when they have their enhanced buffet (snow crab legs included). Enjoy :)
According to their website, they do have gluten free, although it doesn't say what (probably because it changes from time to time), so I would ask while calling tonplace the reservation what gluten free items they'll be serving. It's a great restaurant!
They don't serve any alcohol as the establishment is owned by the LDS church. However, they do have a virgin drink list.
Yes
The roof is a typical restaurant that serves great food that happens to be on the slightly expensive side. Someone said the restaurant is "LDS (Mormon) themed which is not true. The only thing "Mormon" about The Roof is that it does not serve alcohol which considering the location is perfectly appropriate. If you prefer less expensive fare simply walk over to the Garden Restaurant which happens to be on the same floor but has a better view of Salt Lake city.
The roof is more of a business casual place and those who claim casual are mostly because they went casual and weren't kicked out. Think of is as a social standard, not a requirement.
If you don't mind waiting you won't need a reservation. It could be a long wait.
The Joseph Smith building offers some parking. Then use the elevators to The Roof. But you can also use the City Creek parking and walk.
