Done the daylight Paranormal tour. It was very interesting and insightful! Would highly recommend for anyone, of any age, my 9 year old loved it! He especially loved the knocking and pipe noises. Our tour Guide, Alyssa, was spectacular and provided ample amount of time at each explore area! We will definitely be back for the overnight ghost hunting!

The place is huge! Make sure you have plenty of water while on the tour because it's hot. Our group was bigger and the tour guide was soft spoken and wore a mask so it was so hard to hear her.

We did the overnight ghost tour of the main building from 9pm - 4:30am! I would highly recommend doing this tour and I can't wait to come back! We are from NC and decided it was worth the drive to come here and go through this tour! The tour did not disappoint! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and helped guide us through each floor! We only had 2 hours per floor but loved every second of this tour and the experience! I would highly recommend visiting at least once!

This place was amazing, the staff was awesome, our tour guide was great! She really did a great job explaining the history and some of the stories of the place, we had to leave early due to a 6 hour drive in bad weather but we are already planning to come back spring/summer to get the full experience, really spooky place, had a run in with some of the locals there on the 3rd floor (raccoons). They scared us at first but ended up being super friendly and let us watch them eat some chips we had and get a good video. We can’t wait to see you guys again in a few months!

Agreed!
You are locked in during the over night. Ghost hunts but are free to leave at anytime..we had a amazing time 10-31-2017..8pm-5amyes the buildings are locked for your safty..and you can bring your cell phones flash lights..an any ghost hunting equipment you may have..you won't be disappointed
Over 50,000 over it's time as a asylum. After its closure and opened as a tourist attraction is 0!
Nope it shut down in the 90's. Just for tours and a haunted house. :)
It is privately owned so you have to get permission to go inside. However, t her are a variety of tour options including one where you can spend the night there!
This experience wasn't scary at all. It was very informative and fun to be informed about the building and the history of the city.
It's not a park. Is a historical location. There are tons of historical facts on multiple tours you can take about the building and the people that live there. In October they have a haunted house that is great and a monster's ball bash. Lots of things in the website if you look it up
If you love history and or architecture. It's wonderful, lots of info on old medical treatments. Warning the full tour is alot of walking. Wear comfortable shoes.
An insane asylum where people were treated in a brutal manner and some died. On a side note, I went and was scratched by something/someone.
Plenty of room. School and tour buses park there all the time.
No...Donne Gracey, answered it well. However, be prepared and hope your heart can take it.
It's an overnight paranormal hunt. Bathroom and central meeting areas only. Our tour in Dec 2018 went 9pm to 5am. Totally worth it if you bring a friend or two. No heat in the general building though. Be prepared!
Inside in separate building from main one. . Very large and was really good this year. Get there early if going on weekend. Starts right before dark .
Our tour guide told us things off record after we took the historical tour. He said he's seen and heard several things and the he used to be a skeptic, but now he's a believer. Things like doors slamming shut at random, voices, children screaming, random bursts of wind, and etc. I haven't heard anything about the haunted house or the overnight stays but I've heard of several storries of people having paranormal activity.
There is plenty of parking and even more outside the gate for campers or buses.
It's real, go and have a great time!
We paid $25 A person for the 2 1/2 hour full day time tour
Yes but make sure they are open. This is a seasonal program because many sections do not have heatm
Flashlight tours are 10$ and last about 30 minutes. You can rent the whole thing for 8 hours up to 10 people and get locked in. Its like 1500$ with insurance
There are many different tour options including being locked in for 8 hours with a team of friends up to 10 people. See my video on sprocket627 channel trans Allegheny assylum. Thanks!
1st floor tickets are $10.00. All 4 floors tour is $30.00. The Criminally Insane tour is $15.00. The walk-in tour season ends on November 5, 2017.
Yes it is very haunted. I have had several experiences there. My daughter was even been scratched. They have a website to get some info. Ghost hunters and Ghost Adventures have been there.
Absolutely haunted. Worth the trip.
I dont know of any discounts. The price varies depending on what tours you take. The first floor tour is 45 minutes and costs $10.00. There are also add on tours. Ghost Tours at night are also offered. There is a variety of these as well. Transallegenylunaticasylum.com has all the details.
Ouija boards are not permitted. Regular scientific ghost hunting equipment is permitted. Such as voice recorders, EMF detectors, video cameras, thermometers, spirit boxes, Oviluses, etc.
There is one inside and one outside
Depends on what tour you take! They start as low as $10 and go up to $30 or $35 for the daytime tours. Their website has all the info!
http://mobile.trans-alleghenylunaticasylum.com Here is the website
You can stay the night as part of the ghost hunt.
You can take photos on any tour, but no video. The history tour is the best for photos of the building.
Of course. It's a former asylum where lots of bad things happened. They have multiple ghost tours throughout the year.
Pretty sure they are working on part of it almost constantly.
Thank you !! My friend and I will be there on November 9th.
I honestly have no idea sorry
Hi, its age 12 and over, hope this helps and good hunting.
They have several different tours with varied prices per each tour. Consult their website.
My name is Zak bagens I never believed in ghosts until I came face to face with one
When we were there a few weeks ago we could take pictures. We were not allowed to record audio or video.
They have a tremendous amount of historical information. If they don't have it, they'll know who does.
We did the 4th floor tour and it was $35 each and well worth it.
Ive seen a few death records from here in ancestry. But actual records, I'm not sure. If you can't find anything, or nobody knows... maybe you could contact Sharpes? They might know as that is the new location.
Yes, I wouldn't see why not. Sign the waiver.
Rather a subjective question. So many of their inmates weren't even insane... just women who didn't do what they were told or unwanted kids.
We did the 4 floor tour and we totally enjoyed it! The staff are well informed. You may want to check their website for information on the overnight tour.
Not for the 18+ tours. But they should be able to do the basic tours.
It is the 3-hour tour you need to watch out for!
It was a mental institution, later a nursing home
There are actually two people killed that day and they don't release the names only the initials
Do you know how much it is ?
It was run by the state.
They are all awesome. There is one of the first floor and out buildings. That is my favorite.
I believe they are closed now
I went on a tour and was very disappointed. I thought it was a waste of time and money.
These "spirits" are pretty well known and have not left the building. However, I agree that telling them to stay would be affective. You can also ask your guide about it. I'd say you may be more comfortable skipping the wing for the criminally insane as well. The Spirits are friendly. The tour is only as scary as your imagination allows.
Opened to patients in 1864 through to 1994. http://trans-alleghenylunaticasylum.com/main/history.html
You can do it the same day
They do lock you in overnight but other options available. Lot of fun enjoy. Saturday is last night for the season .
Its not inside the main building, it's off to the left on the property. I believe it's in the former TB building
Definitely reel but you cant guarantee anything. If you feel the Paranormal you will know what your dealing with .Very cool experience take a short tour then work your way up. There about to close for the year.
Its $10 a person for the flash light tours and there are 3. Its $25 a person for the haunted house.
Are you doing the haunted house or just normal tour? For the nornal tours your dog would probably be more than welcome. The haunted house I'm not so sure. May want to call ahead and ask.
Your family or group will stay together. You will have a number assigned to you. If it's a larger group, just call to explain and confirm as they work with you! Have a good time!
No t big eyes try to keep y pop u party together just hot to let them know
We did the 2hr tour of the main building (1030pm-1230am). The Halloween events are all in other buildings. The main building is only for tours both giuded and private. On our two hour tour i got 9 evps. 2 of which were class A. Private tours have a guide available but they just suggest hot spots and turn you loose for 8 hrs. We plan on returning for a private session next year. If your into creepy places this is the place to go.
No. Unless you count just being creeped out in thr dark. The do a full-on haunted house for Halloween that is the real thing.
I believe about 30 min. That wasnt open yet when we went. We will be returning for the haunted house at the end of October.
A developer who bought it years ago in order to save it.
13 to 17 has to be accompanied by an actual parent.
There is a research room but I'm not sure what they have
There is no mention of an age limit in the literature I got. I would think that due to insurance issues (liability) one would need to be an adult by West Virginia law.
Yes! Just no videos of the tour itself. Spent the night there a couple weeks ago, lots of video, audio and pictures to explore now.
No, but the haunted house they put on around Halloween is crazy awesome.
The tour i did there was someone in a wheel chair so atleast 1
It wasn't bad at all when we went. They broke us up into groups of 11-12. You could have 50 in a group and it would not be crowded. Highly recommend going, can't wait to go again. Loved it!
If u stay over night 106.00 tax and all per person
10:00pm
just call and tell them what you want and the will setit up
Our group did the over night tour it's 100.00 plus tax. Well worth it!
Idk if its haunted but yes the tour is really good an educational.
This tour is only on Saturday and times are 12:00pm , 1:30, 3:00, and 4:30. Now when i was there Aug. 12, 2017 they had a giant sinkhole and where not doing the tours at the time.
