I brought in 6 pair of Levi’s jeans, 4 of which have NEVER been worn as I only wear dress pants to work and only washed once as I wash before wearing. The two pair they took had actually been worn a few times. The girl told me the others had looked worn. I even showed her how the brand on the back wasn’t even messed up nor were there any frays as they’ve never been worn or anything, folded in a drawer for months. She told me they are experts at this so they can tell. I asked to speak to a manager and she said it wouldn’t help and that I can the $16 on the two pair or take them all back. I even pulled the app from Levi to show it’s literally the same look as on the photo and to explain how they look worn when they were still dark as the day they came from the factory. She just snickered and said they know what to look for, “it’s what we’re trained for”. I’ve never sold there before and I’ll never go back. A friend recommended them but I’ll never do it again. I’m part of networking events across Asheville and do PR and believe me, I’ll be spreading the word. STAY AWAY!!!

I love shopping here for the most part. I’ve even bought a couple clothes that already had damage on them and fixed them myself despite the policy to selling being “non worn down” I just brought a big bin of clothes to sell and only sold a couple items. I brought them in FOLDED in a basket and just got the clothes thrown back. If you’re going to request for them to be gently folded, atleast fold them back as well.

Thank you for reminding me why I don’t waste my time selling my designer clothes to this store. I haven’t sold to plato’s closet in over a decade and never in Asheville. I dropped my bag of cocktail dresses off on Tuesday mid day and returned Thursday morning to retrieve. I received a text Tuesday afternoon saying my items had been reviewed. Upon arrival Thursday am, she complained that it had been so many days since I came that my items likely got donated, she didn’t know if all my items were in the bag or not, and said they decided not to buy anything because it had been soooo many days. I can understand now that they needs things picked up same day, because I overheard her telling a customer before me today l. HOWEVER, no one communicated that to me, not in the text, not when I dropped off, not in the text I got. Communication is key. Your communication and customer service skills are lacking. Waste of my time.

Did not want to pay fair prices for things- I ended up selling them a $200 pair of jeans and a $45 belt with the price tag still on it for $15. Website says they pay much more than that. Not to mention they are very picky about what they will and won't buy.

We buy hundreds of shoe brands and would like to look at your Apex shoes to see if they are what our customers are looking for. Please bring them in in a shoe box or container such as a reusable tote bag, cardboard box, or something other than a plastic bag. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Hi Iris, We have to enter the info - brand, condition, and style - regarding each item into our computer system to give you a price. If you want to wash/dry them and bring them into Plato's in a laundry basket, bin, or reusable tote bag, we'd be happy to put your items through our system.
Plato's Closet follows government mandates. Employees and customers wear masks. Plexiglass shields are at each check-out stations. Cleaning/sanitizing takes place regularly throughout the day.
Stop by any day… We never know how busy we will be throughout each day so it typically helps to arrive early. We open at 10 AM. Thanks Sirenia, you know iur system well! Iris, We work on a first-come-first-serve basis. Just bring your items in in a container (bag or laundry basket), have your ID and if possible, your smart phone (we text you a link so you can fill out the check-in form right on your phone). I will review your items and let you know when we’re done. We are a teen and young adult resale shop so we look for items you purchased within the last year/year-and-a-half so they are still on trend and in good condition. Hope to see you soon!
What they accept is partially up to the manager who has to take into consideration current stock and what people are currently buying from plato
