I really like a lot of what this place has to offer. So, I give 3 stars not because of the selection of shopping and dining, or because of its location (which is fairly far away for Cville residents). My biggest complaint is the configuration of driving lanes and parking. Getting in and out of this center is treacherous when busy and frustrating even when it is quiet. For example, driving north on 29, trying to get to Target, involves a strange small entrance that is one way, followed by two confusing intersections, and then expert knowledge of how the medians break and bend to actually get to the parking lanes you want. Further, leaving requires either driving through the Harris Teeter lot with several blind turns to then do a major left over 4 lanes of traffic, or back tracking behind Target. I only elaborate here to demonstrate my point: the shopping is great here. You can do groceries with Target or Harris Teeter, choose from several good dining options (Vinny's is fun, Panera is reliable, and the froyo place is nice). You can get pet supplies, phone service, and a number of other fine retail options. But be forewarned, the parking traffic and set up is frustrating. I recommend parking wherever feels peaceful and walking to where you want to go. It is much less annoying and there are actually accessible sidewalks throughout most of the center. Update: sadly, there is no Panera any longer, and several other storefronts have closed. Double-check before you come out here that what you are looking for is still open!

Outdoor malls seem to be doing better than indoor ones. Lots of shops, covering all of your needs. There's a biking/walking/running path that runs behind the shops that connects further south on 29.

Lots of great places and stuff to do in this shopping center. Almost everything you need can be found here.

As Hollymead Town Center is home to multiple for-profit businesses, you're unlikely to get many freebies, except maybe some samples from Harris Teeter.
