Tried calling the Social Security office in Sarasota to make an appointment. But the phone message tells you that they're busy and to try calling another time - it then rudely disconnects the call. After going through that roughly ten times this past week, my wife suggested I try the Venice office instead. What a difference! They actually answered the phone and I was able to get an appointment the very next day. Was greeted by a nice security guard and wound up waiting less than 10 minutes to see the agent. The office was very clean and the waiting area has plenty of seating that allows for social distancing. Don't know the agent's name but he was kind, professional and helpful. This was by far the best experience I've ever had dealing with Social Security.

I have tried for over a week to contact the SS for an appointment, I CANNOT get through to make an appointment. It keeps me on the phone for 20 minutes or 40 mins then hangs up. I can't get through. I need to help from friends because I don't use computers nor text on a phone, yet there is no way go get through. My wife died and I have to take care of things and can't get through to SS. My friends try to get through and no one will answer the phone for them either, it just hangs up on them.

You have to call and leave your name and number, then EVENTUALLY a supervisor(and only a supervisor) will call you back to make the appointment. I got called back 2 weeks after i called to make my appointment. Missed the call, and now am playing phone tag. Apparently they are all working from home except the supervisor so they only allow so many appointments a day. Based on my above answer, no, there will be no availability this week. You are looking at about 3 weeks out.

Call your local Social security office, make an appointment, and within a short moment and proper identification they will have a new one mailed to you. In the meantime they will print off a paper basically saying you are who you are!! Easy! Still waiting for my ss card as everything seems to be taking longer these days.

No, Medicaid is a state program. Medicare is the federal program. Medicare can be applied for at the Social Security office.
Do you have a myssa.gov account? You can create one and use it to update your address. Otherwise you can go to ssa office with id and they'll change it
Nope! Walk-ins are welcomed, but you have to wait with a number. Getting appointment will allow you to be seen sooner.
