Would have scheduled appointment online, but that functionality has been unavailable for all Tampa area sites for the last month I have been checking, no matter how far in the future I check. So, I walked in at 0930 and the place was and remains totally overwhelmed with customers 5 hours later. You can’t understaff this badly. Also, the kiosks were out and you don’t clarify whether first time retiree IDs can use them

Worst CAC issuing facility that I have ever been to in 30 years. This facility is a good example for those that think expanding government is a good idea. First, it is understaffed for the amount of traffic that comes through. Second, when a line is wrapped around the outside of the building there should be a staff member coming out and giving updates or directions. Third, the DEERS website states that they will only take walk-ins that are within 7 days of CAC expiration but after waiting in line for 2 hours in the sun, the person at the desk said they would only take someone within 48 hours of their expiration. The sad thing is that this is a Military run facility but there is no organization or processes that lead to efficiency or expeditious service. I have been to this facility multiple time over the last 6 years and it is always the same.

I had no problem showing up as a walk in. Was told to be there well in advance of the 0800 opening time. I showed up at 0630 and there were already 10 people in line. Once they opened the door they called all Military in uniform to come to the head of the line, and I didn't have a problem with that. Once I got inside and checked in, I was called up after about 30 minutes. The young Tech Sargent was very polite! So my overall experience was pretty good. I did inform them that it was pretty much impossible to make an appointment at this facility. My advice is to show up no later than 0630 as the line forms up pretty fast!

We. Checked here with the info, so we knew the only way to renew retired and repent Id's was using the Kiosks, unfortunately they were all "Out of Order". We first went to the BX, then on to the ID office. They said DEERS was down and would be until Monday. When asked, I was told you can check the status of the Kiosks by going to macdillfss.com where there is a traffic light that indicates red/yellow/green before driving all the way. Also as we were leaving a car warned us not to bother going to Orlando for a card. His wife got hers quickly, only to find it didn't work either at the gate or commissary.

Walk-ins may be permitted however I strongly recommend setting up an appointment if you are retired military or dependent. Depending on location an appointment may be a week or so away. Just depends on how busy they are. Good luck/take care.
Google Rapids scheduler, then select macdill afb
Yes, because your military health care benefits change when you become eligible for Medicare.
I think 90-60 days before expiration. Best to call Pass & ID for an appt at least 2 months ahead of time to make an appt, because they are booked solid 2 months in advance.... They do have walk-ins between 8:00 -11:00 am, except on training days.
You can honestly just drop it off to a security forces member at the gate or even go to the visitor center.
It should expire at your 65th birthday year. Because you need to sign up for Medicare.
Normally it is 10 y/o. However, during COVID it has been raised to 14 y/o. Unless there are reasons for your child needing a card earlier (such as divorce of the parents). Your best bet would be to call the office if you have a specific scenario that would require an ID card for a child less than 14 y/o.
Contact them directly. This is not their website.
I believe you are referring to VA card, under the new law. Contact you nearest VA facility for details.
Go online and make an appointment 30 days in advance, as you will have priority over walk-in. I waited several hours before they took me. I live 90 miles away, so I waited. Good luck.
I believe all you need is current Id-drivers license/social security card and your old spouse ID card
Don’t need to make an appointment. The veteran can take you directly to the I’d card office and you can get it done on the spot, but it’s 1st come 1st served. They open at 8am but people usually get there around 7am to get in line.
No need for a new ID card, but nice to have at some point.
MacDill AFB can help you with this
You should go their site and email them or call
2 forms of Unexpired IDs: Passport Driver's license Etc
Yes they do walkins till 11 but get there early
The ID card will be ready after 30 days from using the kiosk. The ID card office will send you an email when it is ready. The ID card office is located on MacDill AFB at 8604 Hangar Loop Dr Bldg #411
I live 1.5hrs away, Inverness, Florida and this is the nearest to me. There has to be a better way I would presume. Your thoughts please.
Preston, For an initial issue of a dependent ID card, I don't think you can do it at a kiosk. You would need to make an appointment or try a walk-in. They need to verify her identity, initially. I just went through this, although it was due to divorce and remarriage. I had to prove I was divorced to first get the previous one's name out of the system. You most likely will need your previous wife's death certificate. For your new spouse you will need the marriage certificate (which consists of the marriage license plus the marriage ceremony). She will need: -2 Forms of ID (driver's license, passport, birth certificate, etc.) -Social Security Card I wasted my time completing the 1172-2 before I found out they accomplish it themselves while you are sitting there with them. Then you sign it. So you can save that step. Good luck and congratulations on the marriage. Lauren Billings
Is my new ID card ready yet?? It has been 30 days since I used kiosk on Feb 8,2022
They have walk-ins on Fridays (the Fridays they are open, and still getting there before they open puts you several people deep in line), but the easiest way to guarantee is to make appointments on their super messing up system. It is opened up 2 month out, so slots fill fast. We just went thru the process (retiree, 1st non cac, and 2 dependants that expired by the time their appointments arrived) . Once everyone is caught back up, they have neat little kiosks in the BX that dependents and retirees are required to use. And that takes 2 weeks.
No. Assuming you used the BX kiosk and received an email stating your/dependent cards are ready and you are the sponsor, just present your AD or retiree ID card at the front desk during service hours.
Yes, unless they listed a specific time in the email for pickup.
Did it in December? Same. And apparently the system glitched and there is no record of a LOT of people. Go in, show them your confirmation email, and they will make you sit and wait like a walk-in...
It would take like 2 weeks and they will send an email one's ready. When you get the email please call first before go there to make sure they have your ID. Because it happened to me that I drive an hr and a half to get there and my child ID and mine where not find that day that I went to receive the 2 IDs. They told me that I had to come back an other day with my son so we can reschedule and do the IDs again but in person cuz we did them at the kiosk. When I went there again for the 2nd day they already found them but I lost a day and my child miss school because we separated the ne day cuz is a long drive of 3 hrs in total for uss😞. I hope you have better luck. Remember call first😅
yes, you can utilize walk-in hours starting at 7:30am Mon-Friday
Expired retiree ID cards have been extended through the DoD until January 31, 2022. That means if you current retiree ID card is expired or expiring soon it will still be valid until the January 31, 2022 date and can be used to access the base or for any medical appointments.
Your old card would have been removed from the system. The new card is what you should use from now on.
If you visit the website macdillfss.com/id-cards there is a link for appointments - I just clicked it and using the MacDill AFB location there are appointments available at the end of June currently from the 21-30. You can also use our walk in hours of 7:30am - 11am Monday - Friday. Also on the website if you scroll towards the bottom is a list of other locations throughout south florida.
Yes
No you are good!!!!!
a
Appointments only.
Retiree/Dependent ids are done online only. AD jump online schedule an appt. Super easy.
It has to be done online! I just went through last week. They say the form is online and i will check again but they gave me a nice highlighted one to fill out, scan and email in. Easy.
It depends on whether you're on active duty status or retired. If you're active duty you don't need to update DEERS, but if you're retired and the child is 18 years old or older, yes. The child must be a full time student to get updated and a new card. Dependents under 18 are covered in Tricare until they reach the age of 18 and up to 22 years old as a fulltime student. My recommendation would be to update DEERS when the dependent is 18 years old with the proper documentation showing they are full time students. This information is based on my personal experience with my dependents and Tricare. The Tricare office will answer any questions you have regarding my experience with their office.
Are you medically retired? If so you should call the ID card facility since technically you are a retiree. You will also need a VA card from your local VA. If you have 20 or more years you need to get your retiree blue ID card in addition to your VA card.
The ID card is open building has changed to 378 the old building is being remodeled at the moment
If I understand your question correctly you were married 24 years of the 35 years your spouse served, correct? If so, you can keep your ID card and receive healthcare under the 20/20/20 rule. It's as follows: Under the 20/20/20 rule, former spouses are eligible to continue their medical coverage under TRICARE if they following are true: Been married at least 20 years The Military member has at least 20 years of service The marriage and the military service overlapped at least 20 year The former spouse has not remarried The former spouse did not enroll in an employee sponsored health You can keep your ID as well if you meet the above requirements. Hope this helps.
Yes, you can. Both of you need to be present and need two forms of picture ID. Sponsor needs to verify & update DEERS info in system. Need to bring marriage license as proof. Walk-in hours are 7:30-11:00 a.m. There are no Pass & ID services on training days (3rd Fri of the month) or when system is down (as it has been frequently, lately). Best to call at least 2 months ahead for an appointment, as appts are booked solid near- 2 months ahead. 8604 Hangar Loop Dr BLDG 378, Tampa, FL 33621
Normal business hours, it's best to he there when they open at 7
Appointments online only. Walk-in by exception to policy for emergency cases only
Your sponsor needs to fill out and sign the required DEERS paperwork and you have 30 days to get a new ID card. Otherwise, the sponsor will have to fill out/sign the paperwork again. After expiration you will not be able to get on base on your own. Walk- ins are from 0730-1100 the rest of the day is by appointment only.
They are usually booked 2 months out. If you go on the appointment website, you can see the calendar and how fast or they are booked. They take walk ins from 0730-1100 daily. Afternoons are strictly appointments.
I would recommend it. Walk ins are from 8-11 but it fills up very quickly.
You can use the following link to find an office close to your location. https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/rsl/appj/site?execution=e1s1
In the winter season it's hard to make appointments so prepare to wait
30 days prior
Yes
I don't beleive they do . but it doesn't hurt to just call in and find out before making a trip on base .
You will not receive an indefinite ID card until 75 years of age.
His father (the sponsor) will need to complete a DD Form 1172. It can be completed online on the Rapids website by the sponsor and uploaded to the profile. Once its uploaded your son can go in on his own to renew his ID.
You should call them directly. This is not their website. My condolences.
Call them directly. This is not their website.
Highly recommended. If you are going to try being a walk-in, you have to arrive early (there will typically be a line by 8am), and you can expect to be there for hours.
The 1172 has to be digitally signed by the sponsor through the deers website. Once he signed it digitally, automatically the form will be saved in the deers records system and then you are good to go to go to DEERS for ID cards. However, it is recommended that when signed it, try to have a hard copy on hand to be on the safe side
