The Walkway over the Hudson has amazing scenic views and is a great way to cross the River without all the car traffic; very family friendly with parents pushing strollers, folks walking dogs, and tons of kids out on their roller skates and boards; we rode over on our bicycles as part of our marathon trip through the Empire State Trail from Albany to New York City. Would definitely recommend!

Great for walking, rollerblading, biking, jogging...really anything to get out and admire the views. Connected to the rail trails from Dutchess County and New Paltz, you can keep going as much as you want. We prefer to park on the West side because it's a lot less busy, and there's bathrooms, an info stand, and a food cart. We always take visitors here when they're staying with us from out of town. Fantastic river views, but its usually windy and cooler on the walkway.

Wish to give it a 4.5. I really enjoyed it. Even taking the Metro North to Poughkeepsie was pleasant. Went ro their Walktoberfest which was a nice break from NYC. Would I go again? Yes. On an official hike this time and spend the weekend there.

Lovely walkway over the Hudson with fantastic views. The restrooms are clean. There are small stores open on the weekends selling merchandise to support the walkway. Treat yourself to the popcorn truck and coffee for sale on the West side. There are water bowls for your dogs. In addition, there are cyclists, but sometimes they go too fast. Posted pictures provide the history of the bridge and the river. Go enjoy the spectacular views!

Accessibility is fine. On one end there's an elevator and the other end by the parking area is a direct path (dirt path with a few small rocks but navigable until reaching well paved road in less than 3 minutes depending how far car is parked)to the bridge.
The distance from the Poughkeepsie lot to the water is about a mile. A further half mile across the water expanse. 3.8 miles from car to other side visitors area and back to car.
Yes there are both restrooms and areas to sit. Small gift shop and food truck
Yes there is
About half mile to over pass David describes and if you walk a mile you get to the Hamlet of Highland and there is a brewery, and multiple restaurants as well.
Yes, on a leash. Surface gets VERY hot on hot sunny days, bad for paws. Also bring water for em.
