The distance from the Poughkeepsie lot to the water is about a mile. A further half mile across the water expanse. 3.8 miles from car to other side visitors area and back to car.
There are parking lots up near the bridge on both sides.. short distance walk to bridge
If you enter from the highland side there are no stairs
You can enter on either end. Thwre are no stairs.
No stairs if you start at either end, though that adds perhaps a half mile on the east end
