Great national memorial to spend a few hours for a hike and enjoy the great outdoors! The staff in the visitor center are very friendly as they are all informative about the area! I definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in the area!

I love this park so much! My husband and I come every Sunday and grab our secret fishing spot and spend the entire day here. The other side of the park(main entrance) is also cool. You walk with a guide (if you want) and walk the trails alongside the water. There are bathrooms and a doggie drinking fountain and a bottle filler fountain at the main entrance of the park. Staff is great too!!

Great place to learn the history around here and how some of this places where named. You can walk the trail systems they have a read little things to learn the history or just look. They have a welcome center thing I didn't get to check out because it was closed when I got there after 5pm. But if you get there before it you can go in and check it out. They have huts and a fort wall like the Indians who first lived here when the Spanish expeditions came here in the 1500s. But all and all great place to see history so I definitely recommend checking it out. Why I'm only giving four stars is you walk through the mangroves I guess you would call it on the history trails and it stinks, but besides that this place was great.

I love this little historical park. You must visit the visitor center and watch the movie to premise the park. Take a walk around the park trail and see the beautiful grounds. Good luck trying to get out of this park without taking a picture of something (make sure that you post it here when you do).

Yes if they are leashed. We enjoy walking around with our dog many times.
Not at DeSoto National Park but Myakka State Park has camping facilities.
There is an area on the hiking path that leads into the water but no lifeguards
Contact the park it may vary
I think if you ask permission you can fish in some areas at Desoto I have seen people fishing many times there.
At the mouth of the Manatee River which flows into the mouth of Tampa Bay which flows into the Gulf of Mexico. If you look directly north from the Park, you are looking across the River. If you look north west, you are looking across the Bay.
No, there is no camping. It is a Historic Trail Walk area. Dogs are allowed on a leash. Trail walk semi- shaded, and there is a shallow cove. To me, it is our little haven. Give it a try, I know you'll Love it.
No grills are allowed at De Soto National Memorial!
Totally free, and if you go in the winter season, there is a live demonstration outside. Beautiful trails, cozy visitors center with a movie to explain the history.
They do not sell passes here because there is no entrance fee. You need to find a National Park or National Forest site with an entrance fee.
Yes and long as the catch is within legal standards
National park not a boat launch. Try warners bayou? Nice boat ramp
It should be open, but call them first to make sure.
I liked the walking trail by the waters edge out to the point that loops around past the monuments. I would go back again to walk that trail. There is a free and interesting video in the visitors center and clean bathrooms.
Agreed. Bean Point or Cocina Beach at either end of Anna Maria Island are much better for shells.
There is at Fort Desoto Park in Pinellas county. There is no camping at Desoto National Memorial in Bradenton.
