Visited 3 times in August. Great park to play at the beach, relax, soak some sun, search for shells, and swim. Bathrooms were clean, loved the trolley ride to the beach and back to the parking lot. Very helpful staff, convenient beach chairs and umbrella rentals (delivered to your specific spot on the beach, and set up for you!). Snack shack in case you didn't bring drinks or food!! So far one of the spots we will be returning to in our next visit!!

Most affordable option for beach access in the area. The public parking spots along Bonita Beach are usually crowded but those are free. $8/ car at Lovers Key for as long as you want to stay. Tram takes you right to the beach. Great little snack shop and souvenirs. Highly recommend.

We absolutely adore this state park. Even if there’s a lot of people, there’s still plenty of room for everybody. They have trams to take you to another area of the beach if you don’t want to walk. They have a few different areas with concessions and bathrooms. The water is absolutely beautiful, you’ll want to spend all day here! Just don’t forget your sunscreen.

Lovers Key State Park is a really neat location with lots to do! We just got our annual park pass and decided to try this one out! They have an awesome shuttle to and from the beach. The beach views and sand are gorgeous! We did one of the walking trails which takes you through some jungle looking wilderness, past the butterfly gardens and next to a bunch of beautiful scenic waterways. I would highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area and have some time to explore! They have a cute gift shop, rentals, discovery center and much more for the whole family!

Yes. However it doesn't run all day. I think the last tram leaves the beach at 445pm though the beach is open until sundown
5 foot waves, rain and 62 degrees
Loverskey, dogs prohibited, but a mile further you'll find the dog beach, dogs love it!
I've seen people fishing in the ocean. Next to the bridge
Get young
Yes. Had some luck before. Try the north end, not many people make it up that way.
Check the Lee County website for details.
$8/car load. $2 for pedrstrians/cyclists or single car occupant.
They have walking areas for dogs, but the beaches and trails that I've seen all state that dogs aren't permitted for their own safety (gators, snakes, etc.) It gets pretty hot too, so I don't recommend taking them to the people park. Look up the Bonita Dog Beach. It's a separate area about 2 miles up from the national park main entrance. That is beautiful for dogs! Great way to cool down. There is public free parking on the gravel and then you walk through trails (sometimes waist high water when the tide rolls in) and then you'll come to an opening for the sand bar swimming hole. ****Check for red tide before going - this is hard on our lungs and can kill our dogs. It affects our breathing.

No, but depending on how many people are there you should be a very lucky person to find a large enough place unless it's as large as a bus 🚍. Enjoy one if not the most beautiful beaches in the world and I'm only saying that for 2 reasons... I believe it is not that you would care of my own opinion. BUT because it's been in many travel mags, newspapers travel sections & even on a few television stations especially the travel Channel when it actually did a lot more travel series compared to now.
Its year round.
Unfortunately, no. However, the Sanibel Causeway allows for overnight camping. Its $6 to cross the bridge and absolutely beautiful! Sanibel Island is actually considered one of the BEST shelling areas in all of the Gulf of Mexico.
Areas are affected from Charlotte County to Collier County. Lover's Key has mild to medium effects currently.
Yes there is by the playground . Across from the entrance. Not sure if there is one inside lovers key.
I don't recall seeing grills... I believe Jacquie is right. Its pretty dry in some areas so they might be prohibited.
Yes. One right at the parking area and one down at the beach area.
Most definitely! There's people on the trails all the time with bikes when we're walking. Haven't seen bikes on the beach but signs say its allowed.
You can drive to many spots and never get out of the car. Because of the angle of the sunset in the summer months you may want to go a beach south of Boniita.
Not sure as well. Also we are in lack of material. That might delay the process.
From the North entrance, 3 minute walk.
It is in Bayside Park opposite side of the road to Lover's Key.
Just south of Lovers Key beach is Dog beach and dogs are allowed there.
It's $8 per car for the day.
yes
I hear about the parking lots I'm sure boaters can still come out and enjoy it's the parking lots from what I've heard
They're available, I don't know if they are an extra charge.
Yes just please clean up after yourself. This is one of the cleanest breaches I've seen.
In Lovers Key State Park dogs aren't allowed. But there is a special Dogs Beach
There is a small fee for each vehicle/person to come into the park (which you pay at the entrance). If you aren't renting any shelters or tables, then I would imagine that you could just fine a place on the beach, but calling as suggested above is a good idea. They we super helpful when we visited!
I'm not sure but there's Bonita doggie Beach less than a mile down the road from Lovers Key and it's a great place to bring your dog.
Yes, you can take it on the tram or if there is not room they will put it in the back of the truck pulling the tram.
We were there a week ago and did not see any, water temp 93 plus
If you are a resident in Florida you need to get registered to fish from land.its free.but need a license to catch snook
It was beautiful on Wednesday this week! But the wind has really kicked up today and going to be worse tomorrow so there is no telling what that could bring in.
I don't think so...but if there's a Q & A on their website it might be worth a look!!! Good luck!!!
No camping there. There is a campground once you get over the bridge in estero Beach I believe it is not for tents. Looks like RV park only.
I see grills already on site here. I have yet to see any of the portable type.....so....guess it would be ok. Better bet to call park. Rangers are stationed at entrance.
The beach is about 80 . I would not swim in the canoe or kayak areas I have seen Alligators !
Ypu can snorkel at the beach with your own equipment. The beach has no reef that I have seen. So you are likely to see sandy bottom and not much else.
Yes there is.....easiest access from boat but you can take a path to the dog beach
If you stop at the Playa Bonita Springs entrance it is free and there is parking, like someone else says there is a donation suggestion but nobody enforcing you pay...
Yes they are cool to watch from the rental kayaks
There is a beach hazzard statement that has been issued
We were there today 7/25 and there were several dead fish when we arrived. The park ranger was coming by and collecting them. The water was about the clearest we have seen since we've been here.
Yes
Wasn't bad a few dead fish. Dissipated for the most part not an issue.
Yes, on the beach. As soon as you get off the shuttle. There are also picnic tables. Its called Hurricane Charlie's.
Yes, enter just south of the bridge to Fort Myers Beach. The gate is closed about sunset but can always be opened from the inside the park to get out. People are often there fishing during the night.
No camping on the beach. It closes st sunset (6:30 pm)
If you are a FL State Park season pass holder ask at the gate for afters hours access. You will fill out a form and they will give you the combination to the lock at the gate for 24/7 access.
$8 for a car and up to 5 occupants.
No alcohol on any public beach in Lee county except Sanibel Island. 2nd degree misdemeanor.
I think 6pm but park closes at sunset, which is about 5:45pm
Flippers on the Bay. Happy Hour only offered during off season
There is a beach just south of the State Park that allows dogs.
I boughtvone last December and it was $120/year. Judge based on your trip frequency whether it is a value to you, vs. $8 per visit for access and parking. Good at any state park. In hindsight, I'd pay each time, to allow for variety in beach visits, such as the Collier County beaches (I live in Lee County)
There are places down by Fort Myers pier.
