Very professional and organized. They are very safety conscious both as far as Covid and protecting the animals. We were permitted to schedule an appointment while we were there and waited to be able to meet the cats we were interested in. The people showing us the animals were very helpful. They provided as much information as we could possibly have wanted about the background of the animals. They also gave us treats to feed the animals so that we could socialize and get to know them. This is completely different from what things used to be many years ago. What a great place to meet our future friends!

Wonderfully dedicated staff, welcoming and very efficient. We adopted 2 guinea pigs and were sent off to applause from the staff-very heart warming!

The adoption counselors are amazing. So patient and knowledgeable and helpful. My counselor made the experience much better and easier. I LOVE the newest member of my family. She adjusted SO quickly and shes made herself completely at home. Thank you for having a great facility and team. Much love for your cause and I will be recommending to many people!

I had an amazing and quick experience here yesterday! The facility is very clean and appears nicely organized, it is appointment only which I thought was great because I got to look at the animals alone. I got an appointment the day after they sent me the scheduling link, I was originally scheduled for two weeks out but I just kept refreshing the reschedule page. The adoption process is so much easier here than any other shelter which I appreciate since I was desperate to get an ESA. My adoption counselor was very helpful and kind and she answered all the questions I had. My new dog was extremely frightened and nervous, but he's settling into his new home nicely!

I've donated THEM for years. Sheets, blankets, etc... The shelter takes all blankets towels etc.. Yes on towels.

Yes they do plus unopened food. Just remember that they also have cats, bunnies, birds, guinea pigs, hamsters and reptiles!
They have a site called animal welfare league
Yes Yes Yes! You can earn VOLUNTER credits needed to graduate as well.
I was there in November and they had many small adorable kittens available for adoption and brought one home the next day. It's really a nice and friendly facility. You should definitely check them out.
Yes please
we Have 6 rabies clinics a year, one a month April- September. Otherwise, we only vaccinator shelter animals.
Don't push option 2, and let them redirect you when u get a human on the phone.
No
Call the adoption center and they will talk to you through the next steps. You’re much better off placing him with them. They do a decent job of screening families so you know he will go to a safe home. They will also have their vet check him.
YES
Yes
Incorrect, walk-ins are acceptable
I would call the listed number. They would be happy to help you :)
You need to call them...
A don't think kill it's the right term. It's call euthanasia and yes we recently use it on our 17 years old dog that was suffering, you need to call and make an appointment.
No. You can get excellent emergency care at Blue Pearl off of gude drive Rockville
Yes! We do accept donations of pet food! They are greatly appreciated!
Yes it is. I adopted a dog about 9 years ago and now I'm trying to get a dog for my husband and I would never go anywhere else
I'm not an employee there, but I've searched extensively for a dog to adopt on both the west & east coasts so know a little about how most animal shelters operate and what services they provide. MO CO Animal Services & Adoption Center does have a full Vet Staff in-house so I'm sure they do neutering even though they don't have it listed on the website.
It is likely something that donation center would accept because they have all types of species of animals that you can adopt. However I would just call them to be certain before you make a trip out there.
Yup, I know they take some reptiles but give them a call if your unsure about a specific species. They will gladly answer questions about the animals they take either by email/text or over the phone. I know they had a bunch of little gecko type lizards and an egwana on their web site a few months ago.
I don't know ! Sorry
I don't have a cat I brought my Dogs. I can look at my paperwork later and let you know.
MCASAC is an open admissions shelter, so it's often a revolving door of what is available. Small dogs are very popular and get adopted very quickly, so if that is the kind of dog you are interested in, you have to act fast if you see one! I believe you can set up an alert on PetHarbor.com to notify you of dogs matching your breed preference. That is where available animals are automatically uploaded.
Yes. Fill out online application and someone will get in touch with you
No, they do appointments only due to covid restrictions.
Go to page, and look them over! Due to pandemic you must make an appointment to see a specific animal. They let you "meet and greet" and then you adopt or not. Easy peasy. Nice people here. Great doggies and kitties!
You should call and speak with them directly for policy questions.
I have no idea...my dog was impounded there so i was there visiting for that reason
As far as I know you have to call them and make an appointment.
We went to the front desk, explained our intention,we just wanted to look, having just put our 19 year old yorkie down. Very nice, showed us the direction to go,and we walked around alone, when we left,no one asked us,or pressured us for anything. Just respectfully asked us to have a great day.
Go to their website. You will also be able to see all the dogs when you go to the shelter, before deciding. Fee for adoption varies, but should be 100-150 max.
Araceli by law 12-13 year old can not work anywhere. However there is a volunteer program. I also know parents must accompany their child during their volunteer work. It is best to contact them directly to get details regarding their volunteer program. Hope this helps.
I know they transfer most to the omaha shelter NHS. Clarinda has a pit mix female smaller one, friendly
Yes, they'll take dog food, cat food, blankets, anything
Adoption Center CLOSED to public on Wednesdays and county government holidays.
Call animal control
Yes, you can. They have a food bank to help pets of people in need, so even if they cannot use it for shelter pets, they can have it available for others.
I would call them-Montgomery County Animal Rescue on Muncaster Mill Road. There should be no problem. Consider giving a donation too.
You can find certain days where the adoption fees are waived but the fees are already pretty low considering the animal has had exams, spayed/neutered, vaccinations, testing, microchipping, etc. The fees also go toward covering food while at the shelter and the first vet appointment once adopted. Please consider the fact that the adoption fees are a far cry from actual vet costs once the animal is adopted.
Not sure check website
The majority of these dogs have been surrendered by their owners (moved to place that does not take pets or particular breed, owner decline in health or allergies, etc.). There are two animal behavior worker on staff, but the shelter environment might have the dogs a bit stressed. I believe each case is individual and highly depending on circumstances. Some dogs, regardless of age, may be highly intelligent and very receptive to training. Your best bet is to visit and to talk to the dog handling staff and volunteers. They can provide some valuable insight on any particular dog. They cannot guarantee any particular outcome, but they strive to facilitate "forever" matches.
Look around where you found it, maybe the egg fell down from a nest near by
I don't think so. It's an adoption facility and pet rescue. Call the humane society.
I'm not sure. I would call them to see.
Not personal creamations. Heavenly Days is a good choice or you can ask your personal vet for recommendations.
You would need to call them
Yes, there are those who speak Spanish.
No it isn’t. According to their website “The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC), operated by the Department of Police, Animal Services Division,”. It’s a no-kill shelter.
Not sure Best way to know make a phone call to them
Call them and ask them, you need to fill an application form for each one.
Weekends at 5 PM and weekdays at 7 PM, closed on Wednesdays
Don't leave the dog to die...
There are rescues that will gladly accept 'on call/per diem fosters. I do know of some that will allow an interested family to foster before adopting to make sure everything fits. If you're truly interested, do call around and be truthful with your desires and situation. I'm sure you'll find a rescue that you get what you need as well as give something that is helpful to them. Years ago Frederick was painting their shelter. We were there just looking and much to our surprise ended up bringing a dog home until the paint job was complete. So there are places out there :)
With the exception of extraordinary circumstances, such as severe/terminal injuries and illness, this shelter is no-kill. Animals that come here are not put on any sort of timer to be adopted. The staff does an amazing job of giving each and every animal that comes into their care it's best shot at a happy life.
Exactly what kind of person turns in a 12-year-old dog? The dog’s got what - a year, maybe two left? He’s been with you his whole life and when he’s elderly, you abandon him?
Free rabies shots during spring time at Snouffer School location, they do clinics on Sundays. Microchip was $10 last spring, don't know cost this year. Good luck bringing your family member home:)
Spay Now in Laurel!
Go in to register, tour the kennel and pick a dog you want to have a one on one with. Very easy .
Yes
Yes, they accept donations for pet supplies
Call place and they will give you a price.
Thankfully she was adopted :)
They probably will do every thing they can
I think you can do it, but you have to come to the shelter and pick up the animal yourself.
Google Montogomery county animal. They have a website with pictures of the animals.
I believe you can do that
Yes. Go to their website
Where to go to get the rabbies vaccine for my dogs
Rabies Vaccination Clinic WHEN Sunday, September 17, 2017, 8 – 10:30am WHERE Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center 7315 Muncaster Mill Rd.
The Animal Services told Me considered No Kill Shelter run by Montgomery County instead of Humane Society. You should visit them to ask more questions in person. My situation trying to call was not successful with getting phone answered so drove to location to get all answers to my questions.
Usually not, but you can check their available dogs online and even set up an alert. Website updates daily.
