Referred to Dr. Lyon by a friend. I was nervous about my first visit, but the friendly staff warmly greeted me and made me feel comfortable. I came in for my issues with dry eyes, and was recommended special eye drops to ease the irritation. Dr. Lyon is a kind and compassionate doctor who strives to provide his patients with quality care!

Dr. Lyon is a very laid back and humorous character that communicates very well with his patients. He thoroughly explains his work and does his best to help his patients understand the process and procedures, which makes me feel very comfortable and assured. I highly recommend this doctor to anyone in need of a trustworthy and genuine ophthalmologist!

I needed a new eye doctor and found Dr Lyon on Facebook. Made an appointment and went in the next day. The girl at the front was nice and the wait was very short. Dr Lyon saw me right away. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything in terms I could understand. Anyway, I feel like I have found a great doctor and would recommend him to anyone.

My contacts were consistently acting up so I decided to check out an ophthalmologist because I wanted a complete medical checkup. A friend recommended Dr. Lyon in Newport Beach. He was very thorough, his techs were friendly and made me feel very comfortable! He checked my eyes & contacts gently & adjusted my sinus medicines. He really helped me!

Sometimes ..it's actually free. Yes, if the patient is seen for other eye problems such as dry eye disorder or floaters, and they request work-up for that on their insurance, and then request an evaluation of their brows, lids, neck or cheek , we will comp them a free consult and advise them which procedures would work best for them. Many of our cosmetic surgery patients are regular patients being seen for glaucoma , diabetes and the like. If they request consideration of using their insurance to repair their lids or brows because their vision is being blocked, we advise them of the steps and tests most insurances require-usually with photographs- before they can get approved. It is best to call for an appointment if there are several ,multiple eye problems present,so that each can properly be addressed first before proceeding to surgery.
Many eye disease such as dry eye disorders, cataract, glaucoma, diabetes and macular degeneration impact senior citizens more than the general population, so, of course, we accept Medicare. Most PPOs are taken. However ,we always advise our patients to call their PPO insurer and ask about their current deductible and co-pays to get a better understanding of their coverage and financial responsibilty. This makes for happier patients.
Most people's eyelids get baggy and droop as they age. We help fix that with plastic surgery. Sometimes if the upper lids droop and block vision, insurance may help cover repairs.Often forgotten is the heavy brow which droops into the eye socket, pushing the eyelid down even further into the person's vision especially when on the phone or internet. We specialize in all types of brow repairs. For people with saggy jowls , cheeks and necks , we can refresh their looks with appropriate procedures. Thank you for asking an important question DR CHRISTOPHER LYON Newport Beach 949.760-3003
Yes,of course. As my mother back in England also had very bad macular degeneration , this is of deep personal concern to me. Like a lot in her generation , she smoked. I got her to stop smoking and her macular degeneration stabilized. It runs in families so get checked up regularly . Thank you for your kind interest, CHRISTOPHER LYON, MD,PhD Fashion Island,Newport Beach 949 760-3003
Yes, definitely- as both glaucoma and diabetes can cause blindness. As part of our anti-aging program these are two diseases of the eye that warrant careful attention. Blindness leads statistically to people dying earlier. Thus, controlling these problems is a high priority in our office. Thank you DR CHRISTOPHER LYON Newport Beach 949 760-3003
Richard , is this of sudden onset ?? -if so go to your nearest Emergency Room for further evaluation. If this is long standing it can result from head injury or other diseases. The fourteen muscles around your two eyes have three major nerves operating them to give you proper binocular vision. In your case you may see two images on top of each other , unless you have suppressed it from a long standing disorder. In any event if this is chronic we can help evaluate and advise. Surgery on the muscles may be needed. Thank you CHRISTOPHER LYON MD, PhD Fashion Island 949 760-3003
