The first time I went there they were pretty good and treated me for esophagitis that was pretty bad and had impacted my breathing. The 2nd time I went though as I continued to have complications afterwards I received the prescription I needed but the doctor was quite a know it all proclaiming before he did any blood work that "it would all come out normal." While it did, I could barely drink water because my throat was so inflamed and I was so disappointed they didn't make an effort to do a laryngoscopy while I was there. I am sure though if they did the bill would have been atrocious. My health insurance with my employer was not great but there was a lot of surprise billing it was terrible and they just kept on billing me for a year when I barely had anything done. I can't imagine the costs people are incurring there. As others mentioned, the doctors surprised you with being out of network. I couldn't control who I saw it just said the hospital was in network. Glad I don't have to deal with this anymore living in the UK - even the private system in the UK doesn't pull this stuff. I am still dealing with things a year later and I do think that's partially their fault for not doing further investigations. I have an esophageal stricture that needs dilating every 2 months and that inflammation has never gone away I've luckily found medication that worked but it was not from anyone's efforts in the Ventura area. Most of my recent diagnoses of EoE was in the UK through highly skilled private specialists. Also, the nurses on the 2nd visit there barely came in to give me water I was filling it up myself!! It was terrible a lot of them need to get off their buts and help patients. They were literally chatting away and gossiping not doing anything.

My husband’s COVID was getting worse despite being double vaccinated & double boosted so he went to the emergency room. The doctor was excellent. He listened, did all necessary tests & quickly got out the prescription for an anti-viral. In less than two hours my husband was home prescription in hand!

Allied Universal Security is a joke at this hospital. Went to lunch after taking turns visiting since early this morning. Been respecting hospital 2 visitor policy all Day. Little female guard, last name Cortes, harassed is at the entrance, even though we still had our wrist bands and visitor badges on followed me to the bathroom while my Husband and mother in law went up to see the patient. My husband called to check on me after a few minutes. I told him somebody had knocked on the bathroom door while I was still in the stall. There are 3 stalls so if somebody else needed to go, they could have come in so I suspected it was this security guard that had harassed. I confronted her when I came out and asked why she was disrupting me in the restroom. She said it was a standard hospital sweep. I'd been here since 10:30 am and this has not happened all day. It is now after 4pm. She had no recourse and her fellow guard was a disrespectful and called my husband and I both liars. His first name is Christian. He wouldn't let me take a photo of his badge to report him like she did. They will be reported to their supervisor and the hospital.

I had to go to CMH to get a lung biopsy done today, had to be there by 7:45 am for a 8:45 am biopsy. The nurse didn’t even know how to start an IV line had to get one of the other nurses to show her how to do it. Also, since I am a Kaiser patient and Kaiser contracts with CMH here in Ventura County bcuz Kaiser doesn’t have a hospital in the VC. So I had to wait for them to call my doctor in Oxnard for them to fax all the paperwork to CMH so they could do the procedure. By the time I get into where the biopsy is performed they had me in the CT Scanner and they informed me that the mass that was on my left lung had shrunk in size which they canceled the biopsy procedure without explaining as to why they canceled the procedure. Talking about a wasted morning, if I have to do another procedure such as a biopsy, MRI, etc., I will tell them to arrange for it to be done at Kaiser in Woodland Hills I will not do anything at CMH again.

Is it possible for staff to be nice and listen. Not talk at desk laughing about you. Then when you have oh a torn rotator cuff its all smiles!? Not cool.

It could be as early as this year (2017) It was originally targeted to open in 2015 but there has been delay after delay.. they couldn't get the steel delivered at one point or enough skilled workers.

I’m recently retired, and would like to volunteer. Who should I talk to?

Hello, you can pick up a volunteer application at the new Ocean Tower front desk or call and ask to speak with Auxiliary for more information.

I was born in CMH 8/29/65 and I'm trying to find out what my blood type is. Will my medical records from my birth here at CMH have my blood type?

Joanne Crespi | Sep 4, 2019
Christian Evans | Sep 4, 2019

You can request your medical record from the Medical Records Department. Your blood type will likely be included in your medical record. It is standard practice today for all newborns to have their blood typed.

When does the new hospital tower open and being such a wonderful building with views of the ocean is there an observation deck where the community could enjoy the same views as you say that we are as part of the hospital as you are

You can also go to the top floor of the parking garage (5th Floor). It's a little windy up there, but there are spectacular views to the hills and ocean (including the Channel Islands). 🌊🏖️⛱️
