Absolutely amazing place! We recently fell in love with and adopted Drako… now Maverick! We couldn’t be more in love! Maria was so great with communication and drove all the way out to Wilmington to make a meet and great/home inspection work around our work schedules/ our complex managers schedule! PCHS truly is a great place and did such an amazing job with our sweet boy! You can really see how much they care and love their animals! All our interactions with the staff there has been nothing but pleasant! And we will forever be grateful for them❤️

I went here cause i saw something on face book and i wanted to get and cat when i got there i saw tons of cats in small cages and i found one that i wanted well it go sick and i couldn't get it so i waited 3 weeks to get it and they called me and i couldn't answer so i called them back and they didn't answer and then they never told me that i had 24 hours to get it so because i didn't get it on time they just sent to another rescue center without telling me

Went today to look at a dog. 1. You Need An Appointment to look! 2. Must do paperwork 1st? So they need your life history before you can look at an animal to see if you might want that animal? Drove an hour and was turned away. Said did not need or want any animal from this facility ever!!!!

We are so happy that we chose to adopt from PCHS! The owners are very quick at responding back to questions. It is very clear that they care for their animals. We just adopted a kitten. We got to meet her and the other kittens in a timely manner. The gentleman at the shelter was super knowledgeable and helpful. It was a very thorough adoption process with very thoughtful questions about providing a good quality of life for the animal. All of the staff we have had interactions with were very nice. We are so thankful for PCHS for finding out kitty and giving her a forever home.

Questions & Answers

I have shared my art, volunteered, donated and tried to help the things needed to keep Pender Humane society open. Tried today to VERY NICE THINGS... was sent away. Not the right day. I hope the Christian center will find folks in need of these

Good luck! As long as the person in charge, Mary & one other person your help will not be excepted. I don't know if it's an ego thing or just pure abstinence. There is no reason for them not to accept the communities offers in help in anyway. It seems that they also make it excruciatingly hard to adopt the animals, instead of trying so hard to find homes for them, refusing clients due to a spouse in the military or in our case because my 27 yr old had never adopted before but had pets all her life with veterinary care always to those we had. If we don't protest to have changes made it's going to continue. Good luck but do keep helping animals in every way you can. Thank You

How much does it cost to get a female cat of 7 months old spayed?

I don't think they do spaying here unless you adopted the cat there, Fix a Friend nearby is great and not too expensive
