The Southport agency personnel were much nicer than Shallotte. She was working hard trying to cover both lines. She was moving crazily trying to keep up. I had to go there because Shallotte was closed for the week for vacation. I guess they all needed it at once.

I wish I had the experience that others did, but I walk in and the woman with the brown hair and blue ends could not have been ruder. She wouldn’t accept my title because there was a tear in it and couldn’t process my boat title registration because her system was down. I just turned around and walked out. She sadly epitomizes the awful stereotypical customer service you would expect from an agency like this. However, all of my other DMV experiences in Shallotte have been great, but alas, there had to be one bad experience.

Of course you must register your car in the state you reside in. If the car was purchased in two names both must be there to register it. Take you bill of sale. The temporary plate and proof of insurance to a NC registration office. You'll be fine. The title will go to the lender who will send it to you after the loan is paid. If you traded the old car in you could transfer the old plate but it will run out we hen it was supposed to. If the plate was recently renewed you can take it to the county tax office and get a portion of the personal property tax back.

I am not an attorney. But I believe her signature will have to be notarized. You might want to get her to give you a Power of Attorney which would give you authority to sing for her. It can be limited to just this transaction.
