Just want to Thank Josefa C. From M&V Control Martinez, she came to our home was very friendly and pleasant and showed deep concern of our mosquito issues having a senior on hospice and grandchild here bitten up, she came saw and took action!! Traps set, sprayed, followed up and returned to set another trap after time passed from spray treatment!! I feel so good knowing she has my back and going over and beyond to help me help my family stay safe and not bitten from these fast day biting mosquitoes!!! Thank you Josefa YOU ARE THE BEST

Requested service for wasp infestation on our HOA playground. Josefa Cabada came out within 24 hours to inspect our swarming insect problem. She identified we had sand wasps and how to remove them from the sand. Thank you for the quick response time.

Sent a service request about a mosquito problem that my property manager at the Wood Creek Apartments would not take care of. Contra Costa Mosquito came out and inspected the nasty ponds and treated them. They also provided a ton of useful information to the property manager for us. David was great, he even gave me a follow up phone call to explain everything. Thank God for a service like this!

Questions & Answers

Will the county deliver a Have-a-Heart trap for the mother raccoon and 5 babies living under my deck and house? Will the county relocate this raccoon family?

The Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District is not a county agency, nor do we provide services regarding raccoons. Our services are limited to these vectors of disease or harm only: mosquitoes, rats, mice, ticks, ground-nesting yellowjackets, bees, and skunks. For information on raccoons, we'd recommend you consult the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources Statewide Integrated Pest Management Program online at ipm.ucanr.edu or the Lindsay Wildlife Museum online at lindsaywildlife.org/found-animal or by telephone at (925) 935-1978.

I can hear something chewing on my house at night. I suspect it's a rat or a squirrel under the house or in the attic. Can you remove the animal?

Pamela, the Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District is the public health agency that provides inspections and advice for the prevention of rats and mice for Contra Costa County residents. The District does not remove rats and mice. Rats and mice can spread disease in their droppings and nesting material, they can cause property damage and have been known to start fires by constantly chewing on wires, cables and other areas found in or around a home. That is why the District provides property inspections and site specific information on what to do to get rid of current rats and how to prevent future rats from being attracted to your property. Please visit our website: https://www.contracostamosquito.com/servicerequest.htm or call 925-685-9301 to request an inspection.

I have three young foxes visiting my backyard frequently in past week. Who do I call to have them removed or is it a problem since I have no pets nor children and no feeders either. One used a bush to climb on my roof this morning before he left.

The Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District is the public health agency agency that works to prevent the insects and animals that can spread disease or cause harm to humans. We provide free services to Contra Costa County residents to prevent mosquitoes, rats, mice, skunks, ground-nesting yellowjackets, and we provide free tick identification. John, for information on foxes, you'd want to contact the California Department of Fish & Wildlife at 916-445-0411.

I have Gofers in my garden. Do you help with that problem?

Erika, the public health services we provide are to prevent vectors, which are any insect or animal that can spread disease or cause harm to a human. The vectors for which we provide free services are mosquitoes, rats, mice, skunks, underground yellowjackets and ticks. For gophers, you can find more information at ipm.ucanr.edu which will connect you with the UC Davis Integrated Pest Management Program.
