Theft is a regular thing here! Got 4 packages stolen within 6 months of living here. $300 worth of things, gone like that! I've lived in a ghetto area before this place, and never had packages stolen. Mail room got broken into, and all management did was put a pad lock and limit the hours the mail room is open. Garbage rooms are small. It does not help when people leave their trash where they aren't suppose to! Homeless guy lives in a car nearby too. It was strange at first, because it was like, "this dude is outside whenever I'm outside"... "oh, never mind, he lives in his car". Homeless people walk nearby everyday. Despite all those things, It's generally pretty safe. Nice walk/short drive to restaurants and grocery stores. Ceilings are taller than most places. Great maintenance team.

My car was damaged parking on California Street. The mirror was melted/destroyed. The building windows face the sun in the afternoon and if you park in many of the street spots there your car will get the magnified hot sun spots. You can put your hand in the spot and it burns. It's a convex reflection issue from the building windows on the upper floors. Even cold days the spots are hot. I notified management office a few times while I was living here so they are aware of the situation. At first they claimed vandalism and an unknown person was burning the cars with a torch or such. I showed them that's incorrect by walking them to the spots and feeling the heat. They verbally agreed to look into a fix. I waited for them to fix it (most likely window film would stop the sun ray reflection). Cars continued to be destroyed and management refuses to accept responsibility. They now claim they were never notified of the issue. Management is FULLY aware of the situation by email as off today so if your car is damaged they can't claim they had no idea and are liable for damage. This is negligence if it isn't fixed. Some tenant cars have severely damaged to the mirrors/roof pillars/back wings/rubber gaskets/plastic light covers. Some days you can walk along the street and see every other car has damage so I am sure dozens of current and past tenants learned the hard way. They just say "park at your own risk" and show you a signed lease agreement but this is due to their building design. They can't skirt responsibility if it's a known issue. What about people who don't live there and car gets damaged? They say use your car insurance and still refuse to fix the central cause of the issue. They refuse to give me the building insurance so I can file a claim. If your car is damaged file a claim with your insurance and get your car insurance to collect from the management.

This is the worst place to live in terms of security. The leasing office is least bothered about security of people and personal property in the apartment community. They neither take responsibility of the theft/vandalism/ break-in events that happen within the community nor act upon one to increase security of the building. I experienced a break in to my apartment 4 months into the lease lease and someone vandalized my car 4 months later. The community doesn’t have any cameras to capture the nominal details of an event in case of break in. I would strongly recommend to reconsider being part of this community.

First of all, the apartment is overpriced for what they offer. Besides location, there is nothing good I can say about Paragon. The most frustrating part was we lived there for more than 2 years, and cleaned the heck out of our apartment before we moved out, but still they took the money out of our deposit for cleaning and painting the apartment. I can understand if we broke or damaged anything, but we didn't. They said they had to clean and paint for the next tenants. You don't use previous tenant's deposit to make the apartment ready for your next tenant. That is just WRONG! That should be your own expense, not ours. I have lived in more than 8 apartments and no apartment has ever taken money out of our deposit for cleaning! Shame on you Paragon! On top of that, our apartment faced the construction site where another huge apartment complex is being developed by another company. We were about 20 feet away from the site, and we dealt with the construction noise for more than a year from 7 am to 4 pm, 6 days a week. There were always annoying loud noises like grinding, machining, hammering and so on. This all happened during COVID, so working from home became intolerable. I understand this is not Paragon's fault, but they didn't do anything to ease the pain. They should have at least considered this and returned our deposit back. Overall I wouldn't recommend Paragon to anyone, unless they have no other choice. There are far better apartments in the area than Paragon. I have already called management and talked about this. But they didn't do anything.
