What happened to this place? I used to hang there in the late 80's. Saw many acts there - Todd Rundgren (solo), Chris Issac, Robert Cray, Paul Butterfield w/ Buzzy Fieten , Bob Weir with Jaco Pastorius ... and many more acts that never got their due. One night Bill Graham was in the audience checking out some local talent. At the time, it was the greatest place to hang in Northern California. I guess the only thing constant is change ..... sad to hear it is closed. How about a "Newer Georges"?

Definitely do not recommend. We had a horrible experience here. We were told the cover charge would be $10. As soon as we arrived, two men greeted us. One man said $20 per person and then the other man said $40. We left because we were not about to pay $40/person on a Sunday night. After we walked away, another man asked how much we would be willing to pay to get in. We were expecting to be respected when we showed up and instead were extremely insulted. We would like to pay what the cover charge is, not some made up amount when you see a group of women show up to your door. Total scam. I will definitely be reporting this bar.

We saw Sarah and Vinnie, and it was so crowded you couldn't breathe. You couldn't get a waiter's eye, even jumping up and down at the bar, and there was no toilet paper in the ladies room. After about 10 minutes (main act had not started yet) we asked for our money back and they told us they'd only sold 290 tickets and they were licensed for 293, and there was still a little room on the dance floor so he refused to refund us. I guess the fact that all 290 people were focused in half the area assigned to 293 didn't occur to him. Good news is that we left and went to Peri's in Fairfax, where Djiin was playing and it was awesome! Fairfax any day - I'm not going back to Georges...
