I saw Dr. Houlihan at Chico Eye Center for my PRK laser eye surgery and am so very glad I did. Sandy kept me well informed throughout the entire process beginning weeks before the actual surgery itself. She was very calming, gentle and informative during the prepping and before/after care of the procedure. The surgical room staff was great and Dr. Houlihan did a great job of keeping me relaxed and walked me through the entire process excellently. I highly recommend this office for your eye care needs, especially if you are considering Lasik or PRK!

All staff members that assisted in preparing me to see Dr. Gilbert were courteous, professional, polite, and knowledgeable. Dr. Gilbert has always been the best of any of my physicians I have ever known. He is direct and answering all of my concerns as well as giving me a total analysis of my current eye health. Dr. Gilbert does not waste time with words; he gets to the point quickly and always has a smile and positive remarks when he concludes the eye consultation. He is the most professional of all professionals, whether as a doctor or as the military officer that he is as well.

Hi Rebecca, Generally, we are not. Certain departments close for lunch, but others stagger their lunches. We are currently hiring a 3rd phone operator. Until we have that position filled and trained, it is difficult to get all of the calls answered while they are staggering their lunches. Thank you for your question, Chico Eye Center

Hi SueAnn, We do free glasses adjustments that include, but is are not limited to tightening, deep cleaning and new nose pads. The optical department is open M-F from 8 am to 5 pm.
We do accept Medicare and most supplemental insurance including AARP.
We accept patients with Medi-Cal insurance when we are taking call for the hospital and by referral.

Yes to both.
We do not accept new patients with MediCal insurance; however, we do accept MediCal patients if referred by another eye-care provider (ophthalmologist or optometrist), or if your are referred by the emergency department while we are on-call for Enloe Medical Center, or if you are an existing patient (seen by us within 3 years) and you have switched over to MediCal.
Not likely unless it's an emergency, even with an appointment expect to be kept waiting for hours
