We did a River Tubing tour with our family. We are an adventurous family and loved many aspects of this experience, however when paying for tubes and transport it would be much better if staff brought the tubes/had them waiting at the drop in and drop out sites. Making my 80 year old mother in law and 6 year old child carry their own tubes over felled logs and up a 10 foot sandy cliff and over a footbridge literally falling apart is a little ridiculous and I wound up having to make multiple trips. It’s not a small distance from the drop off site back to the Overocker lot either. *Update since Umiaks response* Thanks, and getting wooden stairs for the sand cliff at Overocker will help, but an immediate and easy thing to do is not make guests carry their own tubes…simply have them waiting for guests at the drop in and then don’t force them to carry 1/4 mile + from the take out to the Overocker parking lot. Have Umiak staff do that.

Hi Ann! It has been done, but the seats do not slide. You wouldn’t be able to get into the middle. By adding additional weight in the bow to trim out the boat it’s possible to solo paddle. We have other used boat and new boat options that may work better. Our slipstream impulse crossover is 18 pounds. It’s a great option for someone who wants to solo paddling most of the time but occasionally tandem paddle and is extremely lightweight. - Emma
