Prior to my visit today I had never done accupuncture so I have to admit I was nervous going into it. I felt comfortable from the moment I called and talked to Russell to make my first appointment. After only a few minutes of talking to Allison and discussing my concerns with her I instantly knew I made the right decision visiting her clinic. She put me very much at ease and she walked me through every step of the way. You can tell she genuiennly cares about her patients and wants whats best for us. The space is very clean, calming and welcoming (Kennedy there dog adds the PERFECT touch). I have actually never felt so relaxed after just my first session and I cannot wait for my session next week. Thank you so much Allison and Russell

Allison has worked wonders for me! After every tune-up, I feel clear, focused and aligned. I've found that after only seeing Allison for a few months, I'm able to recognize her assistance in my overall health as well as work/life balance. I highly recommend Allison to anyone needing anything from physical rejuvenation to mental/emotional ironing. I also have to give a shout out to Russell and his tea/coffee knowledge and suggestions - I do not know why I've waited so long before working with both of these amazing individuals.

Highly recommend North Shore Acupuncture! I have been so happy with my experience. Allison and Russel are both so kind, caring, and thorough in their work. Even after going for just 3 sessions, I have already been feeling the wonderful benefits of acupuncture in my daily life.

I just started seeing Allison because of lower back pain and anxiety about three weeks ago. After only two sessions of acupuncture and talking to her about my health and what I wish to improve, I already feel so much more balanced with myself and my emotions! I would also like to add my pain decreased immensely in my back, making it easier for me to do yoga! I was so impressed with her knowledge, how beautiful and clean her studio is, and how passionate she is to help others manage pain and their overall health. Russell at the front desk is also very helpful and always so very nice to talk to. I highly recommend reaching out to Allison for a consultation, you won't find a better Acupuncturist/Chinese Herbalist around!

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) affects each patient differently. While it is common to experience immediate relief from your symptoms, acupuncture works best with a number of treatments. This is especially true for chronic conditions, as chronic conditions are more deeply rooted and a greater number of treatments are necessary to completely resolve the health condition.

During the first acupuncture treatment we will review the patient's health history, including medications, diets and daily habits. Additionally, we will access meridians, acupuncture points, and obtain pulse diagnosis. Through observation and diagnosis tools, we are able to gather extensive information relating to your health, and determine what treatment plan is best for your individual health. As a result, an individualized health care plan is created to restore balance and harmony within the body. It is our goal to restore each patient back to a state of inherent health and vitality regardless of how acute or chronic a symptom or disease may be.

How does acupuncture work?

Scientific research suggests that acupuncture stimulates specific points on the body to release chemicals into the nervous system and into the bloodstream. The release of chemicals changes the experience of pain. The experience triggers the release of other substances that influence the body's innate ability to heal. Brain scans show that acupuncture normalizes the signals that reach your limbic system, which is the system that controls the "fight or flight" response. Almost every patient we see is transformed from being on edge to calm, relaxed and zen-like. And the reason is acupuncture works to reset the central nervous system, and once reset, the body can restore to homeostasis or normal functioning.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is one of the world’s oldest forms of medicine, which originated in China approximately 3,000 years ago. For thousands of years acupuncture has been successfully and safely assisting patients with various ailments and disorders in a gentle, non-invasive fashion. The side effects of acupuncture are low when treatment is performed by a nationally and board certified acupuncturist. Through the use of sterile, single-use, hair-thin acupuncture needles, acupuncturists balance the vital flow of energy (Qi - pronounced chee) of the body by utilizing specific points on meridians.
